Passports & International Driving Licenses

Please make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of your entry or departure from your destination. If your passport expires less than six months from your arrival date, you may be denied entry. Public transportation in Okinawa is not as accessible as it is in Tokyo. On the island, the preferred mode of travel is by car, so renting one is recommended for getting around. Please apply for an international driver's license and remember that in Okinawa, driving is on the left side of the road. For guests who may have driving anxiety, arriving a few days early to acclimate is advisable.

Flight

Haneda Airport

Please confirm your flights are booked to Haneda Airport in Tokyo and that your connecting flight to Okinawa departs from there as well. It's common for Japanese airlines to schedule departures from a different airport. For example, you may land in Haneda Airport when you depart from the states━ only for your connecting flight to Okinawa to be taking off from Narita Airport (another major airport in Tokyo) instead, which is an hour away, excluding traffic times! To prevent this, make sure you are verifying your itinerary thoroughly. Also remember to be mindful of the time difference between the US and Japan to ensure you arrive on time. It's recommended to arrive in Okinawa on the morning of June 27th or before to fully engage in all of the weekend festivities! There is a huge possibility that the immigrations line will be long so please plan to have enough time for you to make your connecting flight if you have one to Okinawa. We recommend at least 2-3 hours.

We suggest securing accommodation in the American Village area for June 27, as it is the location of our welcome party. The area boasts a diverse selection of hotels with various amenities and price points. There are also nearby beaches, popular tourist spots and an array of shops, bars and restaurants.

Please book your stay at Hotel Mahaina for June 28-30. It is only 5-10 minutes away from our wedding venue. Shuttle buses will be provided to and from these hotels exclusively on the night of the wedding.
