For a fun and unique stop in Old San Juan, we recommend Animal Café, a cozy pet café where you can enjoy coffee or brunch while spending time with adorable animals, making it a lighthearted and memorable break while exploring the city.
Our favorite beach is Isla Verde Beach, a lively stretch of sand where you can relax by the ocean, often with music playing nearby, and enjoy a fresh coconut or even a drink served straight out of a pineapple. There are also food vendors and jet ski rentals on site!
For an authentic local experience, we love visiting Piñones, famous for its beautiful roadside kiosks serving classic Puerto Rican snacks. You can grab something delicious to eat and jump into the shallow ocean while you wait for your food.

We recommend stopping by La Puerta de la Bandera while exploring Old San Juan. It is one of the most iconic photo spots in the city and a beautiful place to capture a picture with the Puerto Rican flag
If you’re looking for a fun night out, we recommend visiting La Placita de Santurce. There are plenty of great restaurants and bars to start the evening, and on weekend nights the streets fill with music and people dancing, turning the whole area into a lively street party.
If you're visiting Isla Verde, consider stopping by Sandras Point- a beachside foodstand that sells food, fresh coconut water, or a pina colada in a pineapple! This is a great place to get some food on the beach after a long afternoon in the sun
We also love stopping by 787 Coffee, a great local coffee shop with several locations around the city where you can grab a good cup of Puerto Rican coffee or some coffee beans to take home!
If you have time to explore beyond the city, we highly recommend visiting El Yunque National Forest. It’s the only tropical rainforest in the U.S. National Forest system and a beautiful place to spend time in nature with hiking trails, natural rock slides, swimmable water, and even ATV adventures nearby. The park is best reached by private car or authorized tour, as rideshare services (Uber) often do not provide pickups, according to the US Forest Service.
If you feel like taking a drive, we recommend visiting Kioskos de Luquillo. This stretch of food kiosks and small souvenir shops sits just steps from the beach, and the drive from San Juan takes you along the coast with beautiful mountain views along the way
If you’d like a unique souvenir from your trip, you can make your own bracelet at Caribbean Bead Company in Old San Juan. It’s a fun experience to design something personal to take home, just keep in mind the bracelets may not be ready on the same day so it’s best to visit earlier in your trip and return to pick it up once it’s ready.
If you’re looking for something fun to do in the evening, Distrito T‑Mobile is a lively area with restaurants, bars, and live entertainment, making it a great spot to walk around, grab a drink, and enjoy the atmosphere. Some nights have live music and games!
We recommend Escambrón Beach, where you can snorkel alongside sea turtles in calm, clear waters. It’s a beautiful spot to enjoy the ocean and get up close with marine life.
For a calm and family-friendly beach, we love Playita del Condado. A natural rock reef keeps the waves gentle and the currents mild, making it perfect for little ones or anyone who wants to swim in the ocean without worrying about strong surf.
For an adventurous day trip, we recommend Campo Rico, where you can explore the outdoors on ATVs, UTVs, or horseback. It’s a fun way to enjoy the countryside and add a little thrill to your Puerto Rico adventure.
