Our story began on July 31, 2022, at Mosaic Church in Los Angeles. Both of us had recently decided to declare Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and Mosaic offered a special community baptism. Little did we know, God had a bigger plan than either of us could have imagined. We first met the earlier that week before the baptism during a Bible study. As introductions were made, Yajaira recognized Alex from the Zoom baptism class and approached him to introduce herself. That simple exchange, meant to ensure they could connect at the baptism, would set the stage for a spark that felt both natural and divinely orchestrated. On the day of the baptism, we arrived at the beach at the same time. Alex had invited his coworkers, and Yajaira joined the group as well luckily, this meant we captured photos and videos of each other throughout the day. During the group prayer, the pastor said, “Look around you. You never know you may even meet your husband or wife today.” Little did we know that would actually be true. When it was time to enter the water, Yajaira led the first line, and Alex followed right behind. Together, we declared our acceptance of Jesus as our Lord and Savior, sharing our first “I do’s” in a moment that felt sacred, personal, and full of joy. From that moment forward, we moved through the day as if we had known each other forever laughing, talking, and sharing a connection that felt effortless and divine. Over the following weeks, our bond deepened. Alex was drawn to Yajaira’s warmth and faith, and Yajaira realized that the pull she felt was more than friendship it was something spiritual, something meant to be. Late-night conversations, shared laughs, and moments of quiet connection revealed that we were meant to find each other. One early morning, after staying up talking until sunrise, it became clear: God had answered our prayers. For Yajaira, baptism had always been about her relationship with God, and that day became even more meaningful because she discovered she would not be walking into this new chapter alone. Alex, brought his constant belief in God to the altar to declare his true intention on building a relationship with Jesus. At that beach he realized, the gift God had blessed him with by making that decision, was the person he'd be getting baptized with. July 31, 2022, will always hold a special place in our hearts. On that day, baptism gave us spiritual renewal, a deeper connection to God, and a love that continues to grow stronger every day. As we prepare to say “I do” again, we celebrate not only our love for each other but also the beautiful way God aligned our hearts to become one.
