Chris and Shauna’s story began in 2013 at Camp Sunshine in Ridgewood, New Jersey. When Chris walked through the doors as a new volunteer, the staff quickly dubbed him the “hot volunteer”—though Shauna wasn’t as easily impressed. Her first impression came when one of her campers had an accident after being overstimulated by an air hockey table, despite her rules. Who was the camper’s volunteer that day? None other than Chris. Fast forward a year, Chris returned to camp as a lifeguard, and this time the sparks began. Shauna invited him to staff hangouts, and before long they bonded over their shared loves of Batman, donuts, coffee, and exercising. After one impromptu Batman-watching “solo hang,” they realized there was something more between them. From there, their relationship grew through long distance during college and grad school, new jobs, and eventually a big leap of faith—Shauna’s decision to move to Texas. Chris didn’t hesitate; he packed his bags and joined her. Together they’ve built a life filled with adventures, milestones, their beloved furbaby, and countless friendships. In true Chris-and-Shauna fashion, Chris proposed at the finish line of a half marathon. Shauna’s first word was “wow”… followed quickly by “yes!” Their relationship has always been rooted in connection, laughter, and love—and they can’t wait to celebrate with all of you, the people who have been part of their journey.
