Question

What is a "Cocktail Wedding Reception"?

Answer

A cocktail reception - the wedding style of choice in NOLA! - is where the format for the evening is like a cocktail party with guests mingling throughout the evening while being served food in the form of passed hors d'oeuvres and meal stations (which will be open throughout the night). This allows for a very social atmosphere with guests moving freely about the reception space and for you to hit the dance floor earlier! We know this may be new to most of you but rest assured that while there will be no formally seated dinner, there will be plenty of food and drinks for everyone throughout the evening!

Question

Will there be assigned seating?

Answer

While there will be no formally seated dinner or assigned seating, we will have plenty of tables & chairs for everyone to be comfortable throughout the event.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

As much as we love your little ones, this will be an adults-only celebration. We hope this advance notice means you’re able to let your hair down and celebrate with us on the day! However, children are welcome at any events outside the ceremony & reception should they be accompanying you to New Orleans for the weekend!

Question

Is this an indoor or outdoor event?

Answer

Both the wedding ceremony and reception will be held outside in the courtyards at Race & Religious - although the houses will be open for guests to walk through and explore (which we highly recommend!). In the case of rain, the courtyards will be covered with a tent (don't worry, we intend to keep you dry).

Question

Can I bring a guest?

Answer

We will only able to accommodate those listed on your invitation. Feel free to contact the bride or groom with any questions.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

For the welcome party, casual or "smart casual" is totally fine! For the ceremony & reception, we request that guests wear cocktail attire. For women this means a cocktail dress, jumpsuit, or slacks, and for men suit and tie.
