This is a beautiful little surf town about 40 minutes from the venue and 30 minutes north of Lisbon. Amazing white sand beaches, great food and hotels, and extremely cheap. This is one of our favorite towns in Portugal and does not disappoint. Vila Gale Ericeira is a beachfront hotel that is staple in the town with its views and location. If this is not your style then there are plenty of Airbnbs and other hotels!
Sintra is a historic fairytale town about 25-30 minutes outside of Lisbon and a great day trip. Its palaces, gardens, and bustling city center make it one of the top tourist destinations in Portugal. We recommend not driving there yourself and to take one of the many busses that leaves from Lisbon daily to avoid parking. Tons of little restaurants and cafes up in the mountains that overlook all the historic sites.
Cascais is an amazing little beach town just outside of Lisbon that you can take the commuter rail to for $3 or a $20 uber. It is just south of Sintra if you are looking to loop both of these destinations in together. There is no shortage of hotels, restaurants and things to do in Cascais. Beautiful beaches, parks, and a cliff walk that lasts for miles along the coast. Extremely easy to get to from Lisbon and we highly recommend.
Sesimbra is another great little beach town about 45min south of Lisbon. You will pass through some great wine country on the way down. There is a hidden beach called Ribeira do Cavalo that is unbelievably gorgeous. The catch is that it is a bit of a serious hike down the mountain side to get to this little paradise or you can hire a water taxi. Either way if you want to feel like you're in Thailand this is the spot. In the town there are also plenty of hotels and great restaurants and miles of white sand beaches.
Porto is the second city of Portugal and a little gem. Known for Port wine- this city is loitered with world famous wineries. The Douro Valley is an awesome day trip along the river to experience some of the best wine in the world. Porto itself is a beautiful and fun city. We recommend checking out a Fado show, as well as all the blue and white tiled buildings and ancient churches. The food is amazing here and super cheap as are hotels and airbnbs.
The Algarve region in the south of Portugal is unreal. Some of the best ranked beaches in the world reside here. White sand beaches and caves that you can do excursions to are a must. The main airport is the Faro international airport. From Lisbon it is about a 30 minute flight or a 2.5 hour drive. There are tons of seaside towns to check out. We have stayed in Lagos which is ideal for a beach vacation. The happening little town is filled with amazing food and drinks that are really unique, as well as beautiful buildings and shops. No matter which town you stay in you cannot go wrong.
Awesome city. amazing sites. Must see.
Closest golf course to the venue. We recommend either renting there OR doing clubstohire.com if you have a car and are planning on golfing more than the one time. This allows you to choose what clubs/brands you want for the week and will be waiting for you to pickup at the airport. For the whole week it is about $100. Portugal has some of the most amazing courses- especially in the Algarve region.
Lovely surf town with tons of history and historic landmarks. Fortress of St. John the Baptist Berlenga Islands are a must see in Peniche.
