Outdoor Adventure River Activities
For folks wanting some more adventure, there is whitewater rafting/kayaking through the heart of the city on the James River. There are even some urban climbing spots at the Manchester Wall and on Belle Isle. Museums
Richmond has some great museums, including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (https://www.vmfa.museum/). VMFA is considered one of the top ten art museums in the country. The current exhibit "The Dirty South" is excellent and closes on Sept 5. The American Civil War Museum is nationally recognized for its exhibits which tell the story of the war from all perspectives. Breweries and Cider
Richmond has a lot (!!) of breweries: the Veil, Ardent Craft Ales, Hardywood Park, Isley Brothers, Legend (the original Richmond brewery, still with the best view!), Triple Crossing, Starr Hill, Strangeways, Three Notch'd, Vasen, and more! You can also check out Blue Bee Cider, Buskey Cider, and Courthouse Creek Cider, all located in Scott's Addition.
Richmond Mural Poject
Richmond is noted for its murals which you will likely see around town. This site provides some walking tours and murals by neighborhood.
Virginia Capital Biking Trail
52 mile bike paved trail from Downtown Richmond to Jamestown. Runs along the river and farms. You can find info about bike rentals at rvabikerental.com and kulwheels.com. Not far from hotels.
Maymont Park and Nature Center
100-acre park with beautiful gardens and wildlife habitat enclosures. Great for families and adults! Includes two Virginia lack bears, small farm petting zoo, Japanese and Italian gardens and nature center.
Children's Museum of Richmond
Great museum for younger kids, and not too far from the hotels.
