What should I wear?

Answer

Garden/Cocktail Attire. The ceremony and reception will be outdoors and on grass, so plan your footwear accordingly! Coat and tie are optional. There is a short walk up a hill and across the street from the ceremony to the party.

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There will be limited parking at the ceremony location, although the amount of parking available is dependent on weather. If it is raining (or if it has rained a lot recently), we may have an alternative plan for parking, so please check the website for updates as it gets closer. There is also some limited street parking around our house (it is in a residential neighborhood without designated street parking). The best option for street parking is probably along Menokin Rd. Plan for a 5 min walk between parking and the ceremony location. It is also easy to use Uber or Lyft around Richmond, which is a great option if you want to avoid parking. We will also have shuttles leaving from the Jefferson and the Graduate hotels downtown (see next question for more detail).

How do the shuttles work?

Answer

We have several shuttles leaving from downtown, picking up from hotels. To take the shuttle, please meet in the hotel lobby/out front at the following times: 4:20 pm - Hampton Inn and Suites 4:30 pm - Graduate Hotel (If you are staying at a nearby Air BnB, you can get on a shuttle at the Graduate Hotel) 4:30 pm - Jefferson Hotel The reception will formally end when the band stops playing at 10:15. We will have shuttles making return trips to the hotels between 8:30pm and 11:00 pm.

Is there accessible parking or accommodations for those who may need assistance?

Answer

We will be happy to give anyone a ride up the hill from the ceremony to the house. We have space for 1 or 2 cars in the driveway for the shortest walk to the party. Please contact Susan at 804-513-8211.

Is there a rain plan?

Answer

Yes. The location will be the same, but if it is raining, the ceremony may take place up by the house instead of by the river. The arrival/parking details may change slightly in that case, so please check back on the day of the wedding.
