Travel

You probably already know our wedding is on Maui, but there’s a lot to know about the island: where to fly into, where to stay, where to eat? No worries, we have a few recommendations for you.

Flight

Kahului Airport - OGG

You will want to fly in & out of this airport. Reminder! There will be a time change.

Rental Car

Transportation

We recommend picking up your rental car when you arrive at the airport. Note that Jeeps and Mustangs are the most popular tourist rental on the island. Stand out or blend in, your choice!

Travel Note

Where To Stay

For the nights of the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, lodging will be provided at our wedding Venue (Ala Kukui). However, the main house sleeps only 14, so communicating travel plans early makes arrangements easier for everyone. The rest of the time, Justin, myself and our families will be staying in the Kihei and Wailea areas. This side of the island has lots of great hotels and condos. Typically the further South you stay, the nicer the lodging. Ka'anapali is also another option for great hotels on the island, however, that area is an hour from where we will be staying.

Hotel

Grand Wailea

3850 Wailea Alanui Drive
Wailea-Makena, HI 96753
 808-875-1234

This is the hotel where we got engaged. It's a place Justin grew up sneaking into because of its amazing pools. "The Grand" as people call it, also has lush gardens all throughout the grounds, along with amazing restaurants (like Humuhumunukunukuapua'a), although, our favorite restaurant is Morimoto's which is a very short drive to the Andaz Maui (another amazing boutique hotel, that is more adult friendly).

Travel Note

Our Venue, Ala Kukui

There is no other place like Hana. Many people refer to it as “heaven on earth,” and that’s why we chose it for our ceremony. Located in Hana is Ala Kukui, a beautiful, peaceful retreat that sets the perfect scene for a magical wedding. The property is exactly what comes to mind when thinking of old Hawaii. It’s large open fields, groves of trees and lush vegetation make it a legit escape. Adding to the natural beauty of the property is the main house that reflects the best of Hawaiian plantation style design. Not to mention the main house sleeps up to 14 people, with 2 separate, private cabins for small families. As a side note, Justin's family worked on the remodel of Ala Kukui a number of years ago. We chose Ala Kukui because there’s truly no other place like it, however, if you choose to stay off property, there’s a number of AirBNBs as well as the four star Travasaa Hotel just down the road. Either way, we are beyond excited to share this space, time and memories together.

Hotel

Travasa

5031 Hana Highway
Hana, HI 96713
 (808) 248-8211

Long considered one of the most remarkable resorts in Hawaii, Travaasa Hana, Maui (formerly known as Hotel Hana Maui) is now even better. In fact, it was voted the "No. 1 Boutique Hotel" and the "No. 1 Experiential Retreat" in the HAWAI'I Magazine 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards. Located in the town of Hana on the eastern tip of Maui, Travaasa is the first resort on the island to greet the rising sun. Set amid rolling grass fields and palm trees above Hana Bay, Travaasa will immerse you in the real Hawaii.

Travel Note

Groceries

Need to pick up groceries while you are visiting? Whole Foods, Maui has a great selection (located in Kahului, near the airport). If you're in Kihei you can take your pick between Safeway and Foodland. Foodland has a much better poke selection (you can find it at the meat counter, haole).
