Starstruck at Sun In My Belly

Ian and Kathryn met like most people their age: on a dating app. A tale as old as millennial time, but their version is much more wholesome. They met on Bumble where the ladies have to initiate, so Kathryn buzzed in. Ian and Kathryn bonded over feeling like they both had a strong life’s purpose, and turns out Kathryn went to college with Ian's sister's best friend. While music and nursing are vastly different, they connected instantly about their passions. Ian's profile said he was looking for a brunch buddy, so they made plans to meet for Sunday brunch at Sun in My Belly (September 29th, 2018). They started strong. Even Kathryn's Uber driver said, "Oooo girl, is that him?" Ian's Canadian tuxedo was definitely working for him. Overall, it was an "ah-ha, here you are, after all this time" moment. Somehow, it felt like talking to someone you had known forever. After lots of laughs and bacon, they weren't quite ready to call the day quits. On the way out of the restaurant, all of a sudden a vintage car rolled up and Ian started freaking out. Turns out it was Brent Hinds, best known as the guitarist in the Atlanta rock band Mastadon, along with his wife heading in as we were leaving. As Ian fangirled, too afraid to say anything, Kathryn knew he was a keeper. Ian knew this was an omen he had found his own rock goddess. After Ian calmed down, they went to a patio bar and continued talking for quite literally the whole rest of the day. Since that day, they became best friends that felt much better together than apart. After a few years of concerts, cooking, stacks of books, picnics in Historic Oakland Cemetery, dog walking, and family time, it was no question. Ian proposed to Kathryn at Historic Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA, on February 7th, 2021, while walking their dogs, Penny Lane and Zeppelin. They are so excited to unify their closest friends and family, honoring their forever kind of love by the way they met with a Sunday brunch wedding.
