Flight

Pisa Airport

Pisa is the closest airport to Lucca with direct flights from Edinburgh with Ryanair, and from London with British Airways and easyJet. The flight schedule for 2022 is now live on Ryanair for flights to Pisa from Edinburgh airport. The airline is providing direct flights to Pisa (including return) on a Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Train

Pisa - Lucca

There are frequent trains daily from Pisa Airport to Lucca and tickets can be bought on arrival at airport. It is approx. 5 minutes from Pisa Airport to Pisa Central via the PisaMover shuttle, followed by a 20-25 min train journey to Lucca. The overall journey takes around 40-45 mins in total. We used the train coming back from our latest trip and if you want to feel like a proper tourist (and don't have too much luggage to carry!) we would recommend it. The train from Pisa Airport to Lucca train station is €8.

For anyone that is wishing to extend their holiday after our wedding, or for anyone that feels comfortable driving in Italy, we would recommend hiring a car so you have flexibility whilst in Italy. We hired a car whilst in Lucca for the first time and whilst the roads were crazy it was definitely useful! Lucca City Centre is about a 25-30 minute drive from Pisa Airport by car.
