More information to come for lodging in Flavigny, but don’t stress - we have a plan. Please do not book accommodations in Flavigny until we speak with you.

Flight

Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG)Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG)

The best flights to France will be in and out of CDG in Paris, but Orly is a secondary option and houses the new budget airline French Bee. Most airlines offer nonstop options from major US hubs.

Train

Public Transporation to FlavignyPublic Transporation to Flavigny

If you do not want to rent a car, there are many trains that will take you from Paris to Burgundy (where we can arrange to have somebody pick you up and take you to Flavigny). There is a bullet (1 hour) train from Gare de Lyon station in Paris to Montbard station in Burgundy. There are also slower (2.5 hour) trains from Gare de Lyon & Bercy stations in Paris to Montbard & Les Laumes stations in Burgundy. Montbard and Les Laumes stations are the closest train stations to Flavigny. If your plan is to come to Flavigny directly from the airport, you will need to take the metro (~€13) or an Uber / taxi (~€65) to the train station in Paris. We would recommend setting aside 1-2 hours to get from the airport to the train station. We would also recommend reserving your train tickets a few weeks in advance.

Rental Car

Car RentalCar Rental

If you would like to drive to Flavigny from Paris, you should reserve a car from the airport. France has many of the same car rental companies as in the US, but we have had the best experience with Sixt. The drive to Flavigny from the airport takes around 3.5 hours (with a necessary coffee break in the middle). GPS will route you on the toll roads (~€18), but there are non-toll options if you want to drive a bit longer. If you take the toll roads, make sure you exit through one of the toll gates with a green arrow. DO NOT ENTER A GATE WITH THE “T” SYMBOL (as “T” stands for transponder and not ticket). REMEMBER! Your flight arrives the day after you leave the US. Book your car dates accordingly. REMEMBER! The default rental car will be a manual, but you can select an automatic. DO NOT DRIVE IN PARIS! The roads to Flavigny will not take you through the City. If you choose to take a car into Paris despite our warning, do so at your own risk, and may the gods have mercy on your soul.

Travel Note

Passport RequirementsPassport Requirements

Make sure your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your stay in France. Many airlines will not allow you to board the plane otherwise.

Travel Note

Visa RequirementsVisa Requirements

You do not need a visa to travel to France; however, beginning in 2025, US citizens will need to apply online for the ETIAS visa waiver prior to arriving in France. Once you apply online, the authorization is electronically linked to your passport. The ETIAS requirement has been delayed many times - check the website for up to date information.

Travel Note

If you don’t have Global Entry, we recommend downloading the Mobile Passport Control app for your re-entry in the US. The app allows you to fill out your customs information prior to departure from France, and, depending on your airport, there is typically a much faster (separate) line at US Customs.
