We will be in France for 2 weeks. We will spend October 20 - October 27 in Flavigny and October 27 - November 1 in Paris. Our honeymoon will be at a later date - this trip is meant to bring our closest friends and family together for as much time as possible. We want everyone to enjoy themselves and plan their own trips (FYI Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Italy are all pretty close), but if you’re in the same place as us, we want to hang out!
Think cocktail attire. Correy will not be wearing white, so all colors are acceptable! All other events are casual. Remember, Flavigny is a medieval city, so the streets can be uneven. We recommend comfortable shoes at all times.
Burgundy can be chilly in the fall, with temperatures in the 60s during the day and down to the 40s at night. There is also a good chance of rain, but we will have umbrellas available. Most of our events will be a mix of indoors and outdoors, so don’t forget a jacket.
Check our “things to do” page for recommendations. If you are planning to take the train from Paris, there will be enough cars available to take groups to see the sites.
Bill has been memorizing facts about Flavigny since 2018 and will be giving you a tour whether you ask for it or not. If you’re lucky, he may even organize a scavenger hunt where one stop will include Nick shouting random Duo Lingo phrases at you (he knows a lot about windsurfing in France). However, if competitive sports aren't your thing, you can join Correy and Debby in the eye roller's club for a glass of wine.
The 2000 blockbuster hit Chocolat was filmed in Flavigny. We strongly suggest you watch this masterpiece before coming to town. See photo above.
We will provide more recommendations when you arrive in Flavigny, but there are several restaurants (and a bakery) in town. If you have a car, there are also supermarkets and more restaurants a short drive away.
Julius Caesar and his band of merry men set up camp on the next hill over. The troops planted the first anise seeds in the region to help with their digestion…and the candy followed.
