We are so excited to celebrate our love with you on Mackinac Island. Mackinac (Mack-ih-naw) is a small island in northern Michigan known worldwide for its history and beauty. It is also where much of Emily's family calls home. Though it is off the beaten path for many, it is definitely worth the visit. Visiting Mackinac is made more feasible with advanced planning. We recommend reviewing the schedule and travel sections of this website ahead of time in order to book your accommodations and plan your best route to the Island.
Aidan and Emily met in November 2018 when she saw a nice picture of him with a beagle on a dating app. Their first date lasted three hours and covered much of Boston and Cambridge on a spur-of the moment self-guided walking tour. At the time of their meeting, Aidan was busy with weekly performances at Improv Boston and Emily was singing with the post-collegiate a cappella group The Pow! Arrangers. They bonded over a mutual love of niche art forms, and food. When Aidan told Emily he was going to adopt a beagle, she knew he was the one. And when Emily dropped everything to help him transition into beagle-parenthood, he knew it too. The trio made it official and moved in together in Brookline, MA, where they spent two years riding out the pandemic together, and dreaming about their next adventures. Little did they know those adventures would be in Virginia! Their two years in Charlottesville brought new experiences, great friends, and many opportunities to collaborate. The two became known around Darden as the lead singers of the BluesJam band, and creative forces behind award-winning talent show and drag performances. Their time in Virginia also held huge milestones, including getting engaged! Emily surprised Aidan by proposing first during a vacation to Ogunquit, ME. Aidan then counter-proposed on a subsequent trip to Stowe, VT. Em grew up spending her summers on Mackinac and was eager to show it to Aidan. His first visit was a disaster, with Flapjack availing himself to some contraband chicken bones. To Aidan's immense credit, he did not let that trip ruin the Island for him, and has developed into an islander in his own right. Not only has Aidan fit so well into Emily's favorite Mackinac activities (porch-sitting, rum runners at the Pony, charging around on the Whaler), but has given Emily a new chance to fall in love with the Island as she gets to experience it anew with him by her side. Together, they love taking Flapjack down the boardwalk, strolling through the secret garden with an ice cream cone, and sunset rides around the island. Now settled back in the northeast in Aidan's hometown of Manchester, NH, Emily and Aidan have so much to look forward to. They are excited to spend more time with their ever-growing menagerie of beautiful nieces and nephew, and to be able to celebrate many upcoming big and small moments with their loved ones. As for what's next? Take your pick: decorating the new apartment, singing showtunes, dinner parties, consulting, second dog, trips to the beach, lobster rolls, even more grad school, seeing friends, hiking trips, making the perfect pizza, loving each other every day, and so much more...
