How and where we met is a bit of a mystery. Adam and Rachel are both natives of Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, and our families are convinced that we must have met when we were little. Countless boxes of photos have been rummaged through in search of a picture of the two of us together. Fast forward to 2011, Rachel and Adam were students at Northeastern University in Boston. Both found community and friendships at Hillel (the center for Jewish life on campus), and naturally our paths crossed. Neither of us knows exactly when we met, but there's one thing we know for certain: by 2011 we were friends...and Rachel had developed an enormous crush.
One day the summer after Rachel graduated from Northeastern, she discovered Adam's profile on JSwipe, a dating app for Jewish people. Her enormous crush had only grown through the years, so with enthusiasm, she "swiped right." Later that day, we both attended a friend's birthday party. From across the room, Adam locked eyes with Rachel as her phone buzzed. She had a new match on JSwipe. We had our first kiss that night. As time passed our love grew and we became a part of each other's families. We traveled from Europe to Asia to across North and Central America, shared dozens of ski trips and more adventures than we could begin to count. In 2016, we moved into an apartment in Boston together and adopted our adorable fur babies, Harvey and Luna. After four years as a couple and eight years of friendship, we were ready to take the next step in our relationship.
On our way to spend a weekend with family in Quebec, we decided to break up the drive and stay at a quiet country inn on a farm in Ontario. Just before we left the inn, Adam asked Rachel to join him for one last walk through the property. Rachel noticed Adam slip something into his pocket. Adam led Rachel to an overlook between two antique barns. We held each other and cried, there was no need for words. After a few minutes passed, Adam bent down on one knee, revealed the ring we designed together that combined heirlooms from each of our families, and asked the question. Through tears Rachel said YES! We are so thrilled to finally be able to celebrate our wedding with you!
