Our story wasn’t one eureka moment, but rather a compilation/sequence of events that were instrumental in the formation of our relationship… The year is 2016 and Tara was at Daniel’s apartment in silver spring doing an old roommate/mutual friend’s hair. She was simultaneously preparing for James’ birthday party and had tasked both Daniel and his old roommate with assisting in the preparation of party favors. Somehow, the two wound up enthralled in a deep discussion about life as it relates to the world of kids.. A few weeks later Daniel entered in to WAU’s gym to watch an Acro Airs practice with a personal box of pizza. Tara being as vocal as she is, confronted him about how he is going to walk up in the gym with food with a bunch of hungry athletes. Daniel being the gentleman that he is, told he that one day he will take her out for some pizza. Tara held him to that promise. Which she did, time and time again she would see Daniel and ask him where was that pizza and every time, Daniel would respond that he got her……..this lasted for a whole year. Fast forward to Spring of 2017, there was a University trip taking place to Boston - If anyone knows Daniel, then you know that he is VERY PASSIONATE about being from Boston. As he always says, “Boston is the greatest city in the world!” With that fact in mind, Tara thought it would be very resourceful to ask Daniel about Boston in an upcoming trip with the Health and Wellness Department. Daniel, being excited about the topic, divulged all information regarding Boston from the area they are staying at to other things to do around the area. This was a monumental moment as this was when the two finally exchanged phone numbers. Then finally, after Tara’s graduation, it happened. They coordinated a day/time for a pizza date. In August 2017, the two met up after a long day’s work for the both of them in Downtown Silver Spring and visited MOD pizza. They talked for what felt like hours getting to know one another. Shorty afterwards, the two later on became a part of the same Acro-Airs team for a short while when Daniel made a return to the team as they prepared for Acrofest. The two became closer with the time they have spent together on and off the mats and they grew not only as teammates but also as friends. One text , one phone call, and one date led to another, and the rest truly is history. However, the biggest take away that the two wish to share is that their story is by no means perfect. It wasn’t without flaws, trials, and tribulations. But through perseverance, a strong village and God’s relentless grace and mercy, the two are now ready to embark on a new journey: a story of redemption, and new beginnings through God’s amazing grace.
