The Boulevard Beer Hall is a must-visit in Kansas City! Boulevard is the most widely known Kansas City brewery, and you'll soon see why when you visit! The beer hall is a large, self-seating experience where you can try some of the classic Boulevard beers AND try some of their new test-runs!
Power and Light is very close to both The Ambassador Hotel and Hotel Phillips! It is an area of many restaurants and bars/night life all enclosed to surround a shared courtyard. The shared courtyard often has events, concerts, and sports viewing parties. It is also open-container in the courtyard between all of the vendors, making it a great place to gather and hang out!
The Plaza is an area just south of downtown with lots of outdoor shopping and restaurants! There are plenty places here to explore! We recommend checking out the Made in KC store if you're in the area, which is full of local KC goods! There is also a Made in KC store in The Crossroads near your hotel.
The Liberty Memorial Tower sits on the same grounds as the National WWI Museum, which you can also check out! Or just go or a walk around Liberty Memorial. We did some of our engagement photos here because it is so beautiful! Plenty of grassy area and a gorgeous overlook of downtown, including the iconic Western Auto Sign. It is especially cool right around sunset.
Parlor is just down the street from The Guild, our wedding venue that you will be visiting on Sunday! Parlor is a creative take on food, drink, and socialization. There is a collection of different food vendors inside and multiple bars to wet your whistle! There is also occasionally live music. There's something for everybody, making it great place to meet up and hang out!
You really can't go wrong anywhere for Kansas City Barbecue! That being said, Q39 is definitely at the top of our list! Everything is good here! We specifically recommend the Macaroni and Cheese, Burnt Ends, and the Judge's Plate to try all the different meats. The ribs literally fall off the bone!
If you're looking to venture away from Downtown KC, stop by one of our favorite local spots! KC Bier Co is blocks away from our house so we frequent it often. They are a well-known favorite local brewery in KC with an outdoor beer garden that is dog friendly!
