During our sophomore year at San Diego State University, my roommate (and future bridesmaid) Carly invited her friend Matt over to hang out with us. That evening, Matt invited me to go to a party with him and I was smitten. We were inseparable after that day and within 6 days were officially a couple. I had no idea that I was meeting my future husband, but I couldn't be more grateful to Carly for introducing us.

After more than 5 years of dating, we took a trip to Kauai with my parents, my sister (and maid of honor), Sarah, and Sarah's boyfriend (and groomsman), Santiago. I spent most days and nights thinking that the proposal would happen, but after a few days I was starting to think that a Hawaii proposal wasn't in the cards for us. 5 days into our trip, my family decided to go to a beach to take some sunset pictures. Matt surprised me during our pictures and asked me to marry him. I was so excited to get engaged to my best friend and to share our special moment with my family.
