Hotel
Villa Gerini has apartment style rooms for rent that are ideal for those who are choosing to stay in the area more than one night. Apartments range from 2-3 bedrooms and can be split amongst parties traveling together. Space is limited, so we suggest booking this accommodation as soon as possible if you prefer to stay here. Please also note that the Villa Gerini is not walkable from the Ronta train station so having a car or booking a taxi would be best. Please email the hotel at info.villagerini@gmail.com to make a booking and let them know you are attending the Vander Horst/Fiocchi Wedding.

May 21, 2026 4:45 pm
We will arrange a transfer service between Hotel La Rosa, Villa Gerini, and the Villa di Striano. You are also welcome to drive yourself as the Villa di Striano has plenty of parking. Please let us know in your RSVP if you will be driving yourself/your party to and from the wedding so we can arrange the appropriate number of transfer trips. Organizzeremo un servizio di trasferimento da e per la villa, con partenza da un punto di ritrovo. In alternativa, potete raggiungerci con la vostra auto, dato che la villa dispone di un ampio parcheggio.
Travel Note
We strongly encourage anyone who wants to rent a car while in Italy to do some research on Italian road safety if you've never driven there before. Many roads in Italy, especially off the highways, can be quite narrow and curvy and driving etiquette can be a little different than in the US. We have put a link below to a good article about what you need to be able to drive in Italy as an American and some other aspects of car rental to consider. If you have any other questions about this topic, just let us know!
Flight
Florence's airport, Amerigo Vespucci International (FLR), is typically accessed either by flying through Rome's Fiumicino International (FCO), or other connecting hubs in Europe. Once at the Florence airport, transfer into the city is possible by public transit, taxi, or a car rental.
Train
Florence is connected to both regional and inter-city high speed rail. The central station is Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN). If you are coming from a smaller town/city, you will need to book through the national rail company, Trenitalia. If you are coming from another large city (Milan, Rome, Venice), we suggest looking for trains through Italo. Trenitalia also runs high-speed trains, though we usually find Italo to have better prices.
Train
To get to Ronta or Borgo San Lorenzo by train, you will take a Trenitalia regional train heading towards Faenza FROM Firenze Santa Maria Novella TO Ronta (6 stops) OR Borgo S. Lorenzo (5 stops).
