Flight

Flights to Ireland

We recommend flying into Shannon Airport (SNN) or Dublin Airport (DUB). Shannon is the closest option, just 15 minutes from Dromoland Castle, with seasonal direct flights from Newark (United), New York JFK (Aer Lingus, Delta), Boston (Aer Lingus), and Chicago (United). Dublin offers more flight options and is about a 2.5-hour drive from Dromoland Castle. Direct flights are available from many U.S. cities. To find the best flights, use Google Flights (flights.google.com) to compare routes, track prices, and filter for nonstop options. If extending your trip, the "Multi-City" tool can help you fly in and out of different airports. For return flights, all U.S.-bound travelers must clear U.S. Customs and Immigration Pre-Clearance in Ireland before boarding. This process takes extra time, so we strongly recommend arriving at the airport at least 2-3 hours before departure.

Travel Note

Transportation

Once you arrive in Ireland, there are several ways to get to Dromoland Castle. From Shannon Airport (SNN), the castle is just a 15-minute taxi ride away. If you plan to explore Ireland before or after the wedding, renting a car is a great option. Just remember that Ireland drives on the left side of the road! (or as Evan would say, the correct side) From Dublin Airport (DUB), the drive to Dromoland Castle takes about 2.5 hours and is mostly on highways. You can also take a bus directly from the airport or a train from Dublin Heuston Station to Limerick or Ennis, then take a taxi to Dromoland Castle. For all weekend events, we will share additional shuttle details from each of our hotel blocks closer to the wedding. Uber is available in the area, but it works a little differently than in the US. It’s used to hail a local taxi rather than pre-pay for a ride. You’ll pay your driver directly based on the meter. Another app you can use to hail taxis is FreeNow. If you're staying at an Airbnb or private rental, be sure to use the house's Eircode (similar to a US zip code) when booking a taxi to help drivers find the exact location, especially in more rural areas where house numbers or street names may not be used. If needed, below are some taxi contacts in the area: Tom Whyte (+353 86 257 9354) Pat McMahon (+353 86 821 9100) Dom McMahon (+353 86 604 4433) Martin Monahan (+353 87 368 1841 Gerry Nolan (+353 87 135 5006) Niall Cleary (+353 87 244 9446) Tony Woods (+353 87 254 7511)
