Why Utah??
We know Kanab is a bit of a hike and we’re so grateful to everyone making the trek! Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is so special to us. Rachel took her first trip here with a dear friend in 2019 and then brought Eva back in 2022. We both fell in love with the gorgeous red rocks, the shining green grass and, of course, the mission to save and care for every animal possible. In 2024, Rachel proposed to Eva on a picnic with the perfect and adoptable Superman as witness (if you feel inspired, you can sign up for a volunteer shift to take an adoptable dog out on a field trip too - it really is good for the soul).

Getting There
Kanab, Utah is a 3 hour drive from Vegas (woohoo!) and 1.5 hours from the smaller, regional airport in St. George, UT. It’s a beautiful 7 hour drive from LA, 4.5 hour drive from Salt Lake City and for our Colorado pals a 9.5 hour drive from Denver. We’ve done the drive to and from LA and it’s a touch long but lovely, especially with Vegas as a mid-point. Flying into Vegas and driving from there is also a fun option!

ONCE YOU’RE THERE - Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile
We absolutely adore the Roadhouse! We’ll be staying here and have a room block available - give them a call or email to book, unfortunately you can't access the block from online booking, and let them know you’re with the Gross-Reubens! It’s such a chic, cozy retro motel style vibe with the added benefit that it supports Best Friends' rescue and care efforts. It has an adorable cafe and gift shop and is in the middle of downtown Kanab, just a 10 minute drive from our venue, Angel’s Landing at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary proper. Other Options!
There are a surprising number of equally retro, picturesque motels in the area if the Roadhouse fills up or isn’t your vibe: Canyons Boutique Hotel, Canyons Lodge, Quail Park Lodge, The Flagstone Boutique, as well as the bigger chains: Days Inn, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn. It’s a tiny town but since it’s only an hour from Zion National Park it’s got quite a bit going on. There are some super cute Airbnbs in the area as well!
