Question

What is this about a potluck?

Answer

Jon and I were really hoping to capture the relaxed and wonderful atmosphere of a big backyard family reunion. There's nothing that encompasses that feeling more than a big old fashioned potluck! We will provide a main course (BBQ), a main dessert, and drinks. The event is a potluck - as many friends and family of ours have different dietary restrictions, we thought the easiest way to accommodate everyone safely was to have everyone bring a home cooked dish that they can eat and can share. Every dish will then be labeled with ingredients. When bringing your dish to the camp, please adhere to general food safety. We want to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold during "delivery." Once you have arrived at Camp Lane, there are both refrigerators and ovens to keep your dish safe until it's time to eat. As the ceremony begins at 2pm, please have your food safely placed in the catering kitchen before 1:40pm at the very latest! Once you have an idea of what you would like to bring, please write it down here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1I5QT5BRKnzl_ZWLCqKQKLCPU3Hs_lE_A0GhCNWajqg4/edit?usp=drivesdk

Question

I have dietary restrictions. Will there be food I can eat?

Answer

Yes! Since this a potluck, please bring your own dish large enough to share and guaranteed safe to eat for yourself. We will set out labels with each dish to marking it as gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan, or decidedly not.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Bring on the sundresses and comfy button-downs! Our wedding is semi-formal and comfortably relaxed. We want this to feel like a big backyard celebration. Please dress nice, but don't be afraid to roll up your sleeves!

Question

Can we bring our dog?

Answer

Unfortunately no. I would love to say yes to this one, but the venue specifically limits the area to service dogs only.

Question

Is there a place I can swim?

Answer

Yes! There is river access on-site, but the water level may be relatively low by late-summer. Just in case, pack some swimwear and a towel! Do not swim if you partake in alcohol. There will be no life-guard on duty.

Question

Can guests camp at Camp Lane?

Answer

Please do! We booked out the whole camp! Guests are not only able to spend the night on the 13th, but we would actually prefer them to do so! We booked out the entire camp so our friends and family could drink without us having to worry about safety on the roads late at night. We only ask that you clean up and break down camp after yourself the next morning by 10:30 at the latest. And, of course, please - it's our duty to "leave no trace!"

Question

What sleeping accomodations are available on-site?

Answer

There is a large field we can use for tents and RV parking (although there are no trailer septic hookups). In addition to this, there is an A frame, a lodge, a yurt, several open air sleeping cabins, and an adirondack shelter. The A frame contains five separate rooms, one of which is downstairs and close to an in-building bathroom. The lodge has one private room but ample floor space down in the massive dining area. The yurt can sleep 12 people. The Adirondack and the open air cabins can contain bunk beds and are covered, but otherwise open to outdoor temperatures. Each of the buildings aside from the yurt, Adirondack, and cabins contain metal twin size forest service-style cots. Each of the cots has a two inch camp mattress. The buildings, while very large, are definitely rustic. Visualize an early 60s boyscout camp and you'll have the picture. The accomodations will be first come, first serve. if you anticipate there may even be the slight chance of drinking, please bring a sleeping bag and a pillow (just in case)! We will definitely find you a spot to sleep. If you do spend the night, just pack up after yourself and help leave the place clean and neat!

Question

What facility accomodations are available?

Answer

Camp Lane has potable water, two bathroom buildings with flushing toilets and warm showers, fire pits (if permitted by burn ban), and a large caterer's kitchen. There are no trailer sewage or water hookups, but you are welcome to bring your trailer if you'd like to use your own generator.

Question

What if we'd rather not camp?

Answer

I would suggest finding a hotel room or Airbnb to book in the Florence area! Camp Lane is in Walton, which is about 30 minutes to Florence.

Question

I'm in the wedding party. When do I show up?

Answer

September 12th at 2pm. You will also be a part of a group chat of Facebook Messenger where details will be shared, plans will be hashed out, and shenanigans will probably be had.

For all the days along the way
