We met like any good couple does these days … on an online dating app! One of Guillaume’s profile pictures was a photograph of him marching tuba with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. For Erin, a tuba player herself, it was love at first swipe. We went on to text regularly for a few months before our first in-person date. Erin knew she would spend the rest of her life with Guillaume after their second date to Karbach Brewery. Guillaume’s more measured approach to life meant he carefully considered Erin’s jump in with both feet attitude and quickly followed suit.

We spent Christmas 2019 exploring the Arctic in northern Norway. Through countless outdoor adventures, including dog sledding, traditional Norwegian spas, ice hotels, meeting Sami reindeer herders, and late-night northern lights chases, Guillaume kept a very special ring in his jacket pocket. Then on New Year’s Eve surrounded by fireworks on a tiny island above the arctic circle, Guillaume proposed with the ring his father originally gave his mother over 40 years earlier. With no one else around, it was the perfect way for us to share an unforgettable moment.
