Yes, it's real! While Casa Bonita is currently closed, it is on its way to reopening (again...) and we hope it will be ready for us by October! The owners are promising better food, new carpet and a larger Black Bart's Cave! And don't worry, there's a brewery right next door (WestFax Brewing)
Home of Apollo's famous 2nd Birthday after party, Denver Beer Co is one of our city's finest! The original is close to downtown, but we made our memories at the South Downing location before moving to our new home.
Can't recommend the Nature & Science Museum enough! It's one of our very favorite spots in town!
Meow Wolf is an interactive art experience for all ages. The original is a favorite stop in Santa Fe, New Mexico and Denver is proud to feature our local artists in such a unique setting. Put on your psychedelic best and get ready for a true experience. Be sure to plan ahead and purchase tickets if you plan to visit! Meow Wolf SELLS OUT and typically has timed entry/exit times for guests.
The world's greatest natural amphitheater and music venue- Absolutely worth the short drive from Denver. There are great hikes and the amphitheater is open to the general public most days. If the visitor's center (entrance at the top) is open, Red Rocks has a great Hall of Fame! A fun stop to combine with an afternoon in Golden!
Where it all began... Golden is a great little town that continues to grow! Take a stroll on the river walk, grab lunch at the Buffalo Rose and be sure to visit the breweries in town! Buffalo Rose- Those who know Golden might be surprised by this recommendation, but after reopening, the Buff has an excellent menu and expanded patio! Golden boasts the largest single site brewery in the world... COORS! Currently closed for tours, but we will continue to check for updates! Golden City Brewery- Golden's second largest brewery! Excellent brews, outdoor patio and ask for pretzels and spicy mustard to round out your Golden experience. Colorado School of Mines- A short trek up the hill in Golden, be sure to take a stroll around Bill's alum
Head the short drive up I-70 to check out the buffalo overlook, Buffalo Bills grave, The Boettcher Mansion and Lookout Mountain. Beautiful views of the mountains and Denver. Keep an eye out for the buffalo! They're known to predict the weather for a "bluebird" day of skiing!
Estes Park and RMNP are a FULL DAY adventure! Be sure to hop up to the historical and VERY haunted Stanley Hotel, which first came to fame from Stephen King's novel The Shining. It was later featured as the hotel in Aspen ("California! beautiful!") in Dumb and Dumber. Tours information and rules are located on the Stanley's website. Next to Estes Park, you'll find the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. National Parks are currently requiring advance purchase of tickets and many trails also require tickets specific to that trail. Some of you know the photo that we've posted with this recommendation. Bear Lake holds a special place in Erin's heart and is the perfect hike for adults and kiddos!
If you plan to the mountains, PLAN AHEAD and make sure to drink LOTS of water! Here are some of our favorite mountain stops: - Breckenridge, CO- The quintessential mountain town - Loveland Pass/ The Continental Divide - The drive is no joke, but once you reach the top, you can hop out and see our mountains from new heights! - Georgetown, CO- The cutest little mountain town on I-70
