Foxhall Resort is a destination spot for nature enthusiasts with over 1100 acres to explore! Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park

The Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park covers about 35 acres (0.14 km2) and includes several sites in Atlanta, Georgia related to the life and work of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Within the park is his boyhood home, and Ebenezer Baptist Church — the church where King was baptized and both he and his father, Martin Luther King Sr., were pastors — as well as, the grave site of King, Jr., and his wife, civil rights activist Coretta Scott King. The park is administered by the National Park Service and has a visitor's center and museum.

Fox Theatre

Piedmont Park And Eastside BeltLine Trail

Piedmont Park is the premier green space and central gathering place of Atlanta with postcard views of the Midtown Atlanta skyline. The picturesque park features a walking/jogging paths, picnic facilities, playgrounds, tennis courts, public swimming pool, two ponds and dog park. Piedmont Park is home to many of Atlanta’s largest annual events including the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, the Gay Pride Festival, and Screen on the Green. Adjacent to Piedmont Park is the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Bring along a picnic or dine next to the park at Park Tavern and Willy’s Mexicana Grill. A number of pubs, cafes and restaurants can also be found within a very short walk along its bordering corridors of Piedmont Ave, 10th Street and Monroe Drive.

Atlanta History Center

Atlanta History Center is a history museum and research center located in the Buckhead district of Atlanta, Georgia. The Museum was founded in 1926 and currently consists of nine permanent, and several temporary, exhibitions. Atlanta History Center’s campus is 33-acres and features historic gardens and houses located on the grounds, including Swan House, Smith Farm, and Wood Family Cabin. Atlanta History Center’s Midtown Campus includes the Margaret Mitchell House & Museum. The History Center’s research arm, Kenan Research Center, includes 3.5 million resources and a reproduction of historian Franklin Garrett's (1906–2000) office. Atlanta History Center holds one of the largest collections of Civil War artifacts in the United States.

Zoo Atlanta

Zoo Atlanta has a mission to save wildlife and their habitats through conservation, research, education, and engaging experiences. The Zoo is home to more than 1,000 animals representing more than 200 species from around the world, many of them endangered or critically endangered. Recent transformations include the all-new African Savanna, featuring new and expanded habitats for African elephants, giraffes, zebras, ostriches, warthogs, meerkats, and rhinos; Savanna Hall, a state-of-the-art special event destination in the newly restored historic former home of the Atlanta Cyclorama; and the new Arthur M. Little White House Historic Site

The Little White House was the personal retreat of Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States, located in the Historic District of Warm Springs, Georgia. He first came to Warm Springs (formerly known as Bullochville) in 1924 for polio treatment, and liked the area so much that, as Governor of New York, he had a home built on nearby Pine Mountain. The house was finished in 1932. Roosevelt kept the house after he became President, using it as a presidential retreat. He died there on April 12, 1945, three months into his fourth term. The house was opened to the public as a museum in 1948. A major attraction of the museum is the portrait that the artist Elizabeth Shoumatoff was painting of him when he died, now known as the "Unfinished Portrait." It hangs near a finished portrait that Shoumatoff completed later from sketches and memory.

Sweetwater Creek State Park

Sweetwater Creek State Park is a peaceful tract of wilderness only minutes from downtown Atlanta. A wooded trail follows the stream to the ruins of the New Manchester Manufacturing Company, a textile mill burned during the Civil War. Beyond the mill, the trail climbs rocky bluffs to provide views of the beautiful rapids below. Additional trails wind through fields and forest, showcasing ferns, magnolias, wild azaleas and hardwoods. Park rangers lead informative hikes to these areas throughout the year.

Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum

The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum in Atlanta, Georgia houses U.S. President Jimmy Carter's papers and other material relating to the Carter administration and the Carter family's life. The library also hosts special exhibits, such as Carter's Nobel Peace Prize and a full-scale replica of the Oval Office as it was during the Carter Administration, including a reproduction of the Resolute desk.

Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame

Delta Flight Museum

The Delta Flight Museum is a 68,000 square-foot facility at the airline’s world headquarters in Atlanta. Housed in the airline’s two original maintenance hangars dating from the 1940s, the museum traces Delta’s history and the development of commercial aviation. The museum contains exhibits filled with hundreds of items – many of which have never been on public display – chronicling more than eight decades of Delta history. The museum houses five historic aircraft including The Spirit of Delta, a Boeing 767 purchased for the company by employees in 1982. Also on display is a DC-3, Ship 41, that flew for Delta and was restored by Delta employees and volunteers. Visitors can try the ultimate aviation experience and pilot a Boeing 737-200 full-motion simulator, the only one open to the public in the U.S. The hangars serve as unique event venues, with state-of-the-art audio visual capability and full catering services. Callaway Gardens is a 2,500-acre resort complex located in Pine Mountain, Georgia, just outside LaGrange, Georgia. The destination draws over 750,000 visitors annually. Callaway Gardens was founded in 1952 by Cason J. and Virginia Hand Callaway to promote and protect native azalea species. His son, Bo Callaway, helped develop and run the garden. Today, Callaway Gardens features a wide variety of recreational attractions including a large enclosed butterfly habitat, the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center. The native palm Sabal minor maintains one of its northernmost populations in the area.

National Center for Civil and Human Rights
