Our Story

The Beginning - Summer 2020 Eric and Erin both grew up in Spotsylvania, Virginia, walking the same school halls without ever quite connecting. It wasn’t until spring 2020, after Erin had just graduated college and Eric had just settled into his first home, that things finally aligned. With a little encouragement from a mutual friend, Erin gave in to Eric’s invites, and their first date took place at Wilderness Run Vineyards, just a mile from the house they’d eventually share. A few dates later, back at the same winery, Eric casually asked, “We’re going to get married, aren’t we?” He wasn’t wrong. That fall, a beach trip included a detour to pick up a tiny red Labrador named Cooper. One wagging tail later, they were officially a party of three. Growing Closer - 2021–2022 As time went on, their connection grew in a steady, real way. Their schedules rarely lined up, and life didn’t slow down, but they kept choosing each other anyway. Eric balanced his role with the Virginia State Police, coached high school baseball, and explored federal opportunities. Erin worked full-time, built momentum at barre, and worked her way back into event planning after the pandemic reset her plans. It was a busy season, but they found their rhythm - celebrating small wins and showing up for each other every day. The Big Move - 2023 In spring 2023, Eric was accepted into the FBI Academy. Eighteen weeks apart became reality, with Erin holding down the fort at home with Cooper and preparing for what was next. As graduation approached, they learned his first assignment would be Oklahoma. Equal parts exciting and overwhelming, it meant quick decisions. Erin flew out with her stepmother, Huron, and found a starter home just outside Tulsa before Eric even walked across the stage. By fall, Erin had made the move and turned the house into a home. Eric joined her after graduation, stepping into their new reality together. New state, new routines - they handled it side by side. Before long, Tulsa felt familiar, full of new faces and everyday moments they grew fond of. The Engagement — September 22, 2024 While back in Virginia for Ally and Kyle Hiester’s wedding, Eric had one more change planned. He gathered friends at Wilderness Run Vineyards - right where their story began. With Michael & Schyler Pates nearby, he got down on one knee and asked the question he’d predicted years earlier: “Will you marry me?” Erin froze at first, shocked by the timing, then came her enthusiastic response: “DUH!” Friends and family poured in to celebrate. They were officially engaged. Building a Life Together — 2024–2026 Eric and Erin have built a life in Tulsa that feels completely theirs. About 25 minutes from downtown, their new home is filled with dog toys, late-night ice cream runs, spontaneous plans, and more hunting/fishing equipment than Erin would like to share. They both work hard but stay intentional with their time. Spring means baseball, summers are for the lake, fall weekends stay busy, and winter usually includes a hockey game or two. They cook together, make ordinary Tuesdays fun, and step in for each other without keeping score. It’s the kind of partnership that just works. Professionally, they’re thriving. Eric continues to grow in his role, and watching his momentum over the years gave Erin the confidence to turn her own interests into a career. She now works in brand and marketing management for the same luxury bridal company that helped her find her wedding dress - a full-circle moment that feels meant to be. With careers they love, a house that feels like home, and genuine appreciation for each other, they’re starting their marriage on a rock-solid foundation. As for the future? It’s still a little unpredictable, and they wouldn’t have it any other way. Life’s curveballs often turn into their biggest blessings. Whatever comes next, they’re ready to take it on together - and honestly, that’s the best part.
