Our favorites are the Kamaole beaches in Kihei, Makena Beach, Baldwin Beach Park, and Hamoa Beach in Hana. The Kamaole beaches are very gentle with clear waters & frequent turtle sightings. Makena Beach (or “Big Beach”) is pristine with great bodysurfing waves but is only recommended for strong swimmers. Baldwin Beach Park is a local family favorite on the north shore of the island. Hamoa Beach is one of the island’s best kept secrets at the end of the Road to Hana – the scenery here is incredible.
We visit Nalu’s South Shore Grill on repeat for the breezy open air dining, live music, local spirit, and Mai Tai with lilikoi-macadamia foam. Flatbread Company in Paia has great pizza (try the Mopsy with Kalua Pork). Cinnamon Roll Place in Kihei is great for an indulgent treat after a long day at the beach. Paia Fish Market lives up to the hype at both the North Shore & South Shore locations. If you make it up to Makawao town, visit Freshies Maui for fresh local veggie dishes, burgers, sandwiches, and the best lemonade. Food trucks & roadside fruit stands abound in Maui – Huli Huli Chicken always a great option! Dining at Mama’s Fish House on Maui is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Mama’s Fish House is already fully booked well into 2023 & it's very difficult to get a table! The best way to get a reservation is to set an Availability Alert on OpenTable & attempt to book a same-day reservation. If you're willing to be spontaneous, you can usually get a table!
Travel up to the North Shore of the island and visit the little towns of Makawao & Haiku! Stop by the Sherri Reeves art gallery in Makawao & inquire about taking an art class with Sherri and her daughter Hailey Reeves. Take a hot yoga class at Mangala Yoga and enjoy a giant cookie from the Maui Cookie Lady afterwards. Or visit the Kula Lavender Farm for a peaceful walk around the fragrant fields. Upcountry is our favorite place to be!
Zoom above the treetops and enjoy stellar ocean views during this zipline adventure tour at historic World War ll base, "Camp Maui." Fly across several ziplines, cross the high-altitude suspension bridge, and try other obstacle challenges. Enjoy incredible views of Maui’s North Shore and the Pacific Ocean, plus learn plenty of facts about the island’s unique wildlife, culture and history too. Be sure and check out the new museum at Camp Maui dedicated to the men and women who served there.
An unbelievably beautiful black sand beach just 15 minutes away from Hana. Great to visit early in the morning before the tourists come in at the end of their Road to Hana! You do need a permit to visit this beautiful national park, but you can get one at this link!
