A Note to our Welcome Guests

We trust each of you to be patient and respectful when acclimatizing to the rhythm of Northern New Mexico. Please be kind. Please remember that everywhere you step is someone's front yard. Ask before you take pictures. Ask before you take liberties. We are looking forward to introducing you to our neighbors!

Flight

Albuquerque International Sunport

This is the least expensive airport to fly into. It is a little over 2 hrs from La Madera. Car rentals are available there. The Rail Runner is a train which runs from ABQ to Santa Fe also. Shuttles are available depending on where you are lodging.

Santa Fe Municipal Airport

The airport is closer to us. It is 1hr and 15 minutes from La Madera. Often flights are indirect and more expensive.

Lamy Train Station

This is the closest Amtrak station. It is a few minutes outside of Santa Fe. Sometimes the depot is open, sometimes not. Amtrak offers a connecting bus into Santa Fe.

Cliff River Springs

Newly opened beautiful casitas on a 1200 acre ranch in La Madera. All casitas have full baths, kitchens, and private patios surrounding a fruit-tree shaded plaza and a spring-fed pond. The Inn and Mercantile at Ojo Caliente

At the Inn at Ojo, a bed & breakfast located in Ojo Caliente, NM, the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Completely renovated in 1993 in New Mexico Territorial style, the rooms are comfortable and charming and each accommodates 2 people. Every room has an outside door, a view of the Inn’s courtyard and its own bathroom with a shower. The building is well insulated to ensure cool interior temperatures in the summer and cozy warm in the winter. Each room is carefully furnished with items acquired over a lifetime. All rooms are non-smoking. Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa

This is a proper hot springs resort with a full service restaurant and a variety of lodging choices from hotel rooms, to cottages to houses for rent. In addition, they also have a number of Camping and RV sites (Includes electric hook-up, but no campfires.). Rooms at the spa come with full access to the hot springs, and anyone camping or bringing an RV can purchase a package deal that includes access to the hot springs and showers. Carson National Forest

The Wedding site is located in La Madera, NM, which is in the middle of Carson National Forest. It is possible to camp just about anywhere in the National Forest. The El Rito Creek and Pilar campgrounds are the closest developed campgrounds (with composting toilets and eating areas, but no hook-ups), about 20 and 40 minutes away, respectively. All other camping in the forest is in non-developed areas, and the distance to the wedding site will vary. In June camping permits will be required, they are very inexpensive, and there may be fire restrictions if it is very dry. Go to the website for maps, permits and up to date information.

The Shaman's Rest

In Ojo Caliente and right on Hwy 285. This wonderful old home was built in the 1870s. As was the style in those days every room is on a different level. (Intruders in the night would hopefully stumble over the room entrances and give the occupants some warning of unauthorized presences). You step up or down at threshold entrance to each room. This plus narrow doors, some of them shorter than the normal; doors make it less than ADA friendly. Distance to Wedding Site: 5 minutes
