The Science Museum of Virginia was built in 1917 originally as a train station. After transporting people for decades, the neoclassical building shifted to be an innovative STEM center. After touring many venues, the openness, uniqueness, and connection to trains made us fall in love with the space, knowing it was the perfect place to get married surrounded by our family and friends.

Harvey Bilisoly is a local Richmond artist who we met at the annual Arts in the Park festival this past spring. We fell in love with his talent and have been working with him to design and create the art for our wedding invitation and wedding program. Harvey Bilisoly is a retired salesman living in Richmond who has drawn and painted for most of his sixty-seven years. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Tulane University in 1979, and worked with two nationally respected painters who guided him graciously in his four year stint. There, on the historic and ever-engaging streets of New Orleans, he found that his particular penchant was drawing architectural scenes. Bilisoly puts it this way: “ I set my little chair down on the curb, and I try to envision the era in which my building was built, and it helps me to hear the horses on the cobblestones and see the men in bowler hats coming home from work with the afternoon newspaper under their arm. I get transported to that time, and I’m in my element for the day”. Today, Bilisoly travels the world and draws homes and commercial sites in large cities as well as quaint, smaller towns. And he still travels to New Orleans every year for a week to draw and paint. We have been so lucky to meet such a talented artist who has given us such a special creation of our wedding venue, The Science Museum:
