I’ve always joked that Crystal and I were destined to become best friends, and I’m so lucky that it became true! We met on the same hall our first year at APU, and then we lived together the next 3 years with countless shenanigans, pillow talks, and adventures. Crystal is one of the best advice-givers to me in all areas of life. She has also been Jeff’s biggest fan since before we were dating, and I know she will never cease to support our relationship! - Emily

Zach and I met in 2012 and became fast friends. We’ve always bonded over the basic boy stuff like sports & beer, but our friendship goes so much deeper, frequently covering topics of love, family, & justice. If you don’t know Zach now, you will before the end of the weekend. He’s about the most extroverted person I can tolerate :) - Jeff

Kayley Jerman

Kayley and I met through a leadership program in college, and have been best friends ever since. We have been roommates 3 different times, traveled the world together, and serve as each other’s personal influencers. Jeff and Kayley also became roommates in San Diego and share a love of sports and the best/worst 13 year-old boy humor. Kayley is one of the most loyal people you will ever meet, and I am beyond humbled to have her in my corner. - Emily

Kate has been there for me since the beginning and has always been the perfect balance of challenge & support. She makes it easy to look up to her as a younger sister. Tina is my sister-in-law (married to my middle brother, Danny). She makes me laugh (surprisingly ;) all the time and inspires me daily as a nurse, spouse, family member and friend. Jeff and Tina also get along so well - sharing a love of dogs, camping, hiking and traveling. To know Tina is to love Tina, and I am so happy to call her sister! - Emily

Isaac is my cousin and almost exactly 1 year younger than me and we started becoming very close during middle school. We spent weekends competing at the ping pong table, swimming, and playing computer games until 2am. Isaac is an incredibly hard worker, cares for others & the environment, and deeply cherishes time with friends & loved ones. Fun fact: we’re getting married in the same year! - Jeff

Chris and Juliana started to date the same year that Jeff and I did, and it was so fun to welcome Jeff and Juliana into the family together! Juliana is radically inclusive, authentic, and joyful. She has enthusiastically celebrated every single step in our relationship and I am so lucky to have you as a sister! - Emily

Chris is my cousin on my dad’s side. We grew up 10 minutes away from each other and started becoming very close in high school. He is one of the few people I know who will drop everything he’s doing to help a family member, friend, or even a stranger. Chris is my youngest brother, and another person I can always look up to. We’re 4 years apart and it has been one of my favorite sister things to watch him grow into the incredible man he is today. At the end of high school, Chandler and I spent a few minutes at the end of a graduation party blasting Beyonce’s “Halo” and crying about the fact he was moving to CA for college. I was lucky enough to be able to visit him a few times - my first CA experiences! He has been an inspiration for me through his early-on, long-distance commitment to his partner, Brooke, and now continues to be a great husband and (new!!) father as well. - Jeff

Jess and I were in the same leadership class in high school (her as as a frosh, me as a senior), and I immediately wanted to take her under my wing. Best decision I’ve ever made, because she is the coolest person I’m friends with and we even got to be roommates post college! Jess is incredibly smart, passionate about social justice, and down for any and all adventures. She is my little sis forever! - Emily

Jack is my newest friend on this list, but it feels like we’ve known each other forever. We met at USD during his senior year and became fast friends. We both share a passion for the niche space where sports, politics, & social justice intersect. While Jack’s humor & wit are top notch, under the surface he’s a great listener & one of the most empathetic I know. - Jeff

Lizzy and I met as co-workers at UCSC (she came into my office one day to introduce herself, we talked for 3 hours, and the rest is history). Then we all moved to San Diego and now love going to the zoo, playing with the kids, family dinners, and sharing endless amounts of baked goods. When we thought about who we wanted by our side for the wedding, Lizzy rises to the top of the list because she is our chosen San Diego Family! - Emily

Chelsea was the first person I met at Springfield College on move in day! She was one of the pre-orientation leaders that I became close with over the first weekend. The only thing stronger than her love for Springfield is her love for others. She is incredibly adventurous, courageous, empathetic, & loving. Luckily (for me), she has continued to be one of my closest friends post-graduation because I can’t help but smile every time we talk! - Jeff

We met Steph our first semester of grad school and she is actually the first person that each of us individually told after our first kiss in Sri Lanka! Right away, she encouraged us to lean into our feelings for each other, even if it felt a little scary, and has never stopped cheering on our relationship. Steph is someone we seek to be more like every day...she is a deeply caring mother, educator, leader, and friend who roots all of these roles in justice and equity. We truly couldn't think of a more perfect person to MARRY US!
