Wine, oysters, & light bites. This will also give you a peek at Old Town Eureka !
Brews, nice atmosphere and typically a fish taco truck & live music!
This is a don't miss for food or drink. Sweet & savory pies, and great local cider. Great outdoor patio and right in Arcata near the main plaza.
Burgers, beer, and a nice little spot to hang. Not suggested for large groups and might be worth calling ahead, they often are busy and you might get stuck waiting. Also in Eureka, walking distance from Old Town.
Another don't miss and one of Emily's personal faves. Amazing local wines, great outdoor & indoor space, warm fireplaces and a food truck for light bites. Near the Plaza in Arcata, and across from the Hatchet Bar if you get that "need to throw an axe" feeling.
No explanation needed! Reserve a stall for a group and throw some axes. They have beer and kombucha and I believe you can bring in food. Septentrio winery across the street for anyone in your group that would rather hang there. *Make sure you call ahead for your stall they get busy and often are booked.
Great vibes indoors & outdoors, and a great spread of seafood paired with a full bar. Good for full meals or just a drink/apps. A little on the nicer side as far as pricing goes, but it's an easy cocktail and ceviche if you want to keep it light. Right in center of Arcata, and worth calling ahead especially if you have a group.
This is a great spot to get cozy with a drink or full spread. Leans on the nicer side, so call ahead for a table and know you're in for a treat. They specialize in slow-fired, prime cuts of meats cooked over an open oak-fired grill. Silas & I love coming here to celebrate...anything.
If you like cider, I definitely recommend trying some of our local cider bars! This is a nice one right in Old Town Eureka. Cheers!
Vibey cocktail bar will live jazz from some of the great musicians around here. Usually Thurs-Sat night are jazz, so if you happen to check it out--warning that this small bar fills up with bodies & noise easily. Right in Old town with other options if you want to move around.
Another great bar for live jazz. This is super loungy and chill, and you'll always have plenty of space and a good bartender. Right on the Plaza in Arcata.
This is an easy-access beach that you can drive right up to. There's also a trail you can walk (see the big giant rock to the side of the parking lot, that's Trinidad Head and is a fairly mellow/easy and well-maintained trail with beautiful views). Food nearby and will take you to a visit through the lovely beach town of Trinidad.
Another easy-access beach and a very popular spot to see and surf. Great for any level. No hiking necessary, and views aplenty. This will also be near Trinidad if you want to plan for a bite while you're out.
Cute and tasty and everything is homemade! They have a nice outdoor spot to sit if the weather is nice. Pro tip: they are known for their mashed potato cone !
Beer, cider, wine, and a full menu of tasty food. This is the old creamery in Arcata, and they *usually* will have plenty a space for you or a group.
This is a nice and easy hike with beautiful views, and you're right at the beach if you want to beach walk before/after.
This will give you easy trails to enjoy some of the beautiful redwoods, right in town! There is signage and this is a well maintained area, but if you're like Emily you can still find yourself a little lost. Go with someone, and keep an eye on where you're headed. Enjoy the fresh, lush air!
This is a gorgeous stroll through some of the old growth redwoods we are famous for. It's a little further south, closer to where the ceremony will be held. Could be a nice stop on your way up if you're driving from down south, or make a little detour to check it out over the weekend!
People come from all around the world to see the sites at Avenue of the Giants. You'll see beautiful Old Growth Redwoods, and lots of trails to wander on. One that we like is the Drury Chaney Trail. There are two entrances, either one is nice. It's not too long, and you can make it shorter or longer as you prefer. Easy and mellow. Avenue of the Giants is located on the south end and would be a great stop if your driving north to get here, or to make a little detour while you're here. This is located nearby the ceremony where Silas's family has their Pepperwood property.
This is one of Emily's favorite beaches, and one of the more popular surf spots. It's a bit of a hike to get down to it, so not the best for everyone. I recommend going with someone familiar with the area because the roads can get a little wild.
This is another great breach to check out in Trinidad. Has a bit of a trek to get down, so wear comfortable shoes if you're up for it. If you'd rather take in the views and skip the beach, you can check out Luffenholtz County Park just down the street which has 360 degree views. You'll still want comfortable shoes to get down the path.
This is one of our favorite beaches here. You'll feel like you're in a postcard, and if the weather works with you--you might feel like you're in Hawaii. There's a trail to get down to the beach so don't bring too much to carry, and wear shoes you can hike in.
This is such a fun browse on a Saturday morning if you are free. You can check out the scene of locals and there's typically music, bites, and coffee. Humboldt is known for its farm fresh produce and makers, and the Plaza on a Saturday is a great scene to check out. She may not be here wedding weekend as there's a lot going on! But typically Silas's mom, Ginger, is there every Saturday with Sarvinski Family Farms goods.
Good spot to stock up on goods for your hotel or air bnb if you plan to skip eating out a few meals. If you need a bigger stock up or are staying with a large group there is a Costco in Eureka !
Good spot to stock up on goods for your hotel or air bnb if you plan to skip eating out a few meals. If you need a bigger stock up or are staying with a large group there is a also a Costco in Eureka !
Good spot to stock up on goods for your hotel or air bnb if you plan to skip eating out a few meals. They have great smoothies and other goods also. If you need a bigger stock up or are staying with a large group there is a Costco in Eureka !
This is an excellent spot for coffee, pastries, breakfast, lunch--really anything. They have outdoor seating and everything is homemade and uses local ingredients (usually from the farmer's market!). They're often busy, but it's worth it!
Deluxe, delish bagels and a very signature spot in Arcata. Indoor & outdoor seating. Pro tip: get the larrupin sauce ! Maybe get a jar to bring home while you're there.
This is such a delight! I typically rep our hometown pizza of Papa Bears but I have to say this is close, or possibly better but I don't like to let Silas know that. They also have lasagna that will knock your socks off.
Great coffee spot if you're staying in Ferndale, or spending the day checking it out.
Great ambiance and a fun place to grab margaritas or dinner with a small-ish group (or call ahead). The food is great, but you'd probably find better tacos from one of the trucks. If you're looking for the no-ambiance, good Mexican joint get in touch with me or Silas!
This is a great hang spot for any size group, and has lots of outdoor/indoor options with firepits, food & drink. It's kind of a cross between a park, and a business. You can bring your own food, or order there. I think technically you aren't supposed to bring your own drinks, but could always try. Many families go and bring stuff to BBQ, make smores, etc.
Historic bar and lounge right in Old Town. Get something fancy here! If you're lucky they'll have live music.
