Emily and Kyle met in Memphis in December of 2012. Emily, who was living in town after graduating from Rhodes, ran into Kyle and her sister's friends at their weekly bar trivia and immediately wondered, “Who is this handsome guy with the nice beard?!" Emily and Kyle quickly connected over their shared tastes in music and Kyle became a regular on Emily's own weekly trivia team. In the spring of 2013, he helped her get through the law school application and acceptance process. Emily moved back to her hometown of Kansas City to pursue her studies in the fall. Emily and Kyle's long distance relationship remained strong—helped by frequent weekend meetings in St. Louis. In December of 2014, Kyle packed up his car and moved to Kansas City. Kyle proposed to Emily in Memphis while they were in town to celebrate Emily's 30th birthday in June of 2019. They went on a hike in Shelby Forest with a bunch of their friends, following the same trail the two of them had walked during one of their first dates. With a little help from a couple accomplices, Kyle and Emily had a moment alone together on the trail in the exact spot where Kyle had taken his first photo of Emily years before. They were thrilled to share the news later that day with a house full of their beloved family and friends! Emily and Kyle got married in a small ceremony in Emily's parents backyard on June 13, 2020. This past April, Kyle and Emily became homeowners in the Waldo neighborhood. Emily works at a law firm and Kyle is a bookseller. In their free time, Emily and Kyle love to travel and have been to fifteen countries together. Emily and Kyle are looking forward to celebrating their reception at the Bauer on May 28, 2022.
