Flight

San Diego International Airport

The San Diego airport is the closest major airport. It is about a 30 minute drive (without traffic) from the airport to Encinitas.

Train

COASTER (North County Transit)

To get from the downtown San Diego area to Encinitas, you can take the Coaster! It's about a 47 min train ride from the downtown station (Santa Fe Depot) to Encinitas (Encinitas Station). We both love riding the coaster. It is a scenic coastal train ride! To get from the airport to Santa Fe Depot, you can either take the bus (992) from Lindbergh Field and Terminal 1 Baggage Claim to the Broadway and Kettner Stop, OR take a Lyft/Uber from the airport to the Santa Fe Depot. Check out the Coaster website for schedules and fare information! They also have a mobile app that makes purchasing tickets super slick and easy. The app also allows you to purchase bus tickets if you opt to take the bus from the airport to Santa Fe Depot.

Rental Car

Rental Car Center

If you choose to rent a car, all car rental pick-ups and drop-offs occur at the Consolidated Rental Car Center. Free dedicated shuttle buses run continually between the airport terminals and the Rental Car Center. Fun fact: California doesn't charge for additional drivers on rental cars!
