Charlotte to Bangor

For those coming from SC, there are usually a couple of direct flight options from Charlotte to Bangor. Bangor has car rentals and is about a 60min drive from Mt Desert Island where the wedding will be taking place

Boston to Bar Harbor

Bar Harbor Airport is the closest to Mt Desert Island, about a 15min drive to the actual town of Bar Harbor or 20min drive to Northeast Harbor. There are often direct flights (very small planes so a no-go if you're claustrophobic) from Boston.

Drive

Driving is a great option as well! The drive to Mt Desert Island via Route 1 is extremely scenic as you work your way up the coast and through the small towns of Maine. Don't forget to make a pitstop for your first lobster roll! If you fly into Portland and drive, you'll pass through Freeport, home to LL Bean and Maine Brewing Company. Mt Desert is about a 5hr drive from Boston and 3hrs from Portland if you choose to fly and drive.

This is where we will be having welcome drinks on Friday evening. We will also have a block of rooms, just ask for the Fernald - Osborne Wedding. You can visit the website or phone number listed - do not go through the booking sites, they will not have the blocked rooms listed. Rates and rooms will be locked until June 1, 2023. The harbor view rooms will be $171 for two doubles or $180 for a queen, this does not include the 9% tax rate. Hurry though, this is a busy, busy time of year, we suggest making reservations ASAP.

Van Transport - to/from Wedding

A shuttle will be run from the Kimball Terrace Inn to the wedding and following to make sure all our guests arrive on time and are returned safely to their beds. Uber and taxi's are a rarity on the island, please have a designated driver if you plan to drive to and from the venue.

The Asticou is situated across the Harbor from the Kimball Terrace Inn. It is a lovely, vintage inn with grounds filled with flowers and gardens. Depending on need, the shuttle may be able to make a pitstop to pickup and drop off from this location as well. Hurry and make reservations ASAP as this is a busy time of year!

The Island Explorer is a great way to get around the island. It is a free service and runs about every hour from Somesville to Bar Harbor. The last shuttle from Somesville is at 7:50pm, so while it will be great to utilize for the weekend, it will not be ideal for the wedding.
