Yes! The weather says no rain! See you at 10am ish!
Elm and Kody had a few "first meetings" back in college. The first time they "first met" was at a ballroom dance class in their dorm hall. All Elm remembers is some tall guy in cowboy boots that seemed to know what he was doing, so therefore he was much too intimidating to talk to. The second time they actually "met", though Elm doesnt remember it. It was Tallahassee's monsoon season and Elm didn't have a car. She biked across campus and showed up to Music Theory class dripping water onto the tile floor. After class, some tall guy observed, "You look like a drowned rat." Drip, drip. Ah, the height of romance, being compared to a rodent. "Do you need a ride home?" Eventually Elm conceded and upon arriving home promptly blocked the embarrassing memory from history. The third time they "first met" was in choral conducting class, and this time it stuck. This time she remembered. There was a NATS singing competition up in Alabama that all the vocal students were invited to compete in. Elm still didn't have a car. But some tall guy, possibly named Codie?, who ate yogurt every morning in class, offered a ride up to anyone that needed one. Taking a ride from some guy she had barely talked to could turn into an excruciating roadtrip, but it turned out to be exactly what she needed. He was very nice about it when she took him up on his offer. "Of course." And he helped her with her suitcase to his car after conducting class. The graceful and elegant Isabel was also carpooling with them to the competition. As soon as the road trip started, she announced she was taking a nap, and slept gracefully and elegantly in the backseat the whole way up while Kody and Elm talked. And it was easy to talk with this tall guy with wavy black hair. He was happy to help where he could, they joked they didn't notice the Tesla Rossa CD repeating for the third time. Elm's interest was piqued when they sang along to the radio and he didn't stop when she joined in. It was harmony. No, literally. She took the descant or lead, and he took the lead or bass line. But her eyebrows really raised on the drive home. They both wanted to stop at the state park before heading home. Kody tried to enjoy nature, but instead had to tell Elm, "You walk so loud." ... "I like crunching the leaves." She accepted his offer to ride on his shoulders, but didn't realize how high up she would be sitting on this tall guy's shoulders. "I'm not comfortable with this. I'd like to get down." And here is where Elm started to take notice of this tall guy with an easy smile. He put her down. He didn't ask if she was sure or tease her or try to convince her otherwise. He just put her down. That's the respect she would grow to love. So the moral of the story is: carpool.
