The Kodiak Island Brewery offers fantastic locally brewed beer, many of them crafted with local ingredients such as Pacific Bull Kelp and Spruce Tips from our local Spruce trees. Tall-boy cans and growlers are available for to go adventures around the Island (highly recommended). For times you just want to sit and relax with friends, new and old, there is plenty of room to grab yourself a bite from the Million Recipes food truck in the Brewery parking lot and kick back and have a pint or two!
Kodiak has a beautiful history with two prominent museums to visit which provide a glimpse of Kodiak Island's past. The Kodiak History Museum (101 E Marine way) and the Alutiiq Museum (215 Mission Road) both located less than 10 minutes walking distance from the downtown area and both town located hotels.
On your way out of town, stop by Java Flats Café (11206 Rezanof Drive West) or the Rendezvous Bar and Grill (11652 Rezanof Drive West) to grab a bite or take it to go on your adventure out-the-road. Drive along the coast and take in the scenery of beautiful bays, enormous mountains, and the sights of deer, eagles, free range farm animals and bison. Most of which can be found wandering on the road, easily a reach out the window away! You might even see one of our famous giant bears! At the "Y" take a right to go to Pasagshak/ Rocket Launch site and follow the signs to find yourself at Fossil Beach. If you're lucky, you might leave as the proud new owner of a lovely little fossil; the perfect memento for your Kodiak Island adventure.
In the downtown area of Kodiak is a plethora of restaurants and bars for all your dining, drinking, and shenanigan needs. If you're looking for accommodations closer to the civilized spectrum rather than rugged and outdoors, the Best Western or Compass Inn would be the best accommodations for easy access to the main hub of the Island.
