Matt met Elloree through an online dating website, but no thanks to its cleverly devised algorithm. In January 2015, Matt had just moved to Indianapolis and was looking to meet new people. Elloree's profile was not offered up. Instead, Matt found it after hours of sifting through adjective-heavy stories. He saw Elloree's profile and straightforward approach. You know what comes next: messages pinging back and forth, then texts and finally a date at a middle of the road bar. The rest is history. We quickly bonded over music, basketball, local brews, and our mutual love for the Midwest. (We are still trying to find a way to get Match.com to sponsor our wedding and/or honeymoon.)

After several weeks of planning, Matt decided to pop the question during dinner at Tinker Street, where we went to celebrate our fourth anniversary. Instead, the maître d' called Matt early in the afternoon to tell him we'd be wedged between two large parties. If he wanted an audience, he'd have one. So, Matt mothballed that idea. (It was a good thing, too, because a group of housewives was chugging bottles of Prosecco next to them.) Elloree spent the next three days with her girlfriends from college while Matt anxiously awaited for the perfect time to ask. After the weekend festivities concluded, Matt came home from work on a Monday and handed Elloree a blank anniversary card while she was in the kitchen making dinner. After she chided him for not writing a sentimental message, he asked her to close her eyes because he had a surprise. When she opened her eyes, Matt was on one knee with a ring. The sentiments left off the card were then said aloud as the Roomba was running in the background and the oven timer was alarming, but it was our perfect moment.
