In November 2026, we’re traveling to Japan for our honeymoon — a journey with particular meaning for Mark, whose Japanese heritage runs four generations deep but who has never set foot in his ancestral homeland. We’ve planned this trip with great intention, moving from Tokyo to Fukuoka to Kyoto to Kurashiki to Atami, letting Japan reveal itself slowly. Your generosity makes these moments possible.

Tokyo has more Michelin stars than any city on earth. This evening puts us in the hands of a chef at an intimate omakase counter — ten seats, no menu, complete surrender to the chef’s vision. For two people who believe a great meal is its own kind of ceremony, this is Tokyo at its finest.

A Night at the Sushi Counter
$450
Group gift
Our first full day in Tokyo begins with a guided introduction to two of Japan’s most essential culinary traditions. A chef-led tour through sushi and tempura — the technique, the ingredients, the philosophy. The meal that sets the tone for everything that follows.

The Hiramatsu sits above Sagami Bay on the Izu Peninsula — a private retreat with its own onsen, a premier suite, and a kitchen that takes the season seriously. This is where the honeymoon exhales. Two nights of complete stillness before we fly home as husband and wife.

Two Nights at The Hiramatsu
Group gift
The Hiramatsu’s cuisine reflects both Japanese and French traditions with equal respect. The seafood comes from the bay below. The sake list is exceptional. This is the final great meal of the trip — and we intend to make it last.

By the time we reach Atami we will have walked Tokyo, eaten ramen in Fukuoka, trained with samurai, repaired broken things with gold, and slept on tatami in Kurashiki. The Hiramatsu is where we stop moving. A couples massage, private onsen, and two nights above Sagami Bay. This is where the honeymoon becomes a memory we’ll carry for the rest of our lives.

Sumo is one of Japan’s oldest traditions — part sport, part ritual, entirely Japanese. This experience takes us behind the ceremony to understand what we’re witnessing. For Mark, whose Japanese sensibility runs deeper than language ever could, this one feels personal.

This one is purely joyful. Tokyo’s anime culture is vivid, irreverent, and completely itself — a side of Japan that exists alongside the temples and the kaiseki counters with equal confidence. We’re leaning in.

Fukuoka is the birthplace of tonkotsu ramen — the rich, deeply porky broth that has traveled the world but belongs here. Mark has eaten ramen his entire life. This is where it began. We’re going to find a counter, sit down, and let him have the moment.

Kyoto holds more of Japan’s living history than anywhere else in the country. This morning we learn the discipline behind the sword — not as performance, but as practice. The kind of experience that changes how you carry yourself for the rest of the day.

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold — the philosophy being that breakage is part of an object’s history, not something to hide. We’ll spend a morning learning this practice in the city where it originated. For a honeymoon, the symbolism feels exactly right.

Nakamura has been serving kaiseki in Kyoto for over 300 years. It is one of the most revered restaurants in Japan. We discovered it while planning this trip and realized that Mark — who carries this name, who has lived a Japanese sensibility his entire life without ever standing on Japanese soil — deserved to sit down here on his first visit to Japan. This dinner is the heart of the trip

A single intentional night in a traditional tatami room in one of Japan’s most beautifully preserved Edo-era towns. Kaiseki dinner served in our room, breakfast in the morning, the quiet of Kurashiki’s canal district outside the window. The trip begins to slow down here — deliberately.
