We recommend planning a few days to see Yellowstone National Park either before the start of our activities or after our planned activities. Yellowstone is best explored over a lifetime, but if you only have a day or two it can certainly be experienced. Our recommended stops on a long single day or two day trip is the following: Drive through Grand Teton National Park to the south entrance of Yellowstone National Park 1) Old Faithful and surrounding geysers 2) Grand Prismatic 3) Beryl Spring 4) Mammoth Hot Springs 5) Lamar Valley - known as the Serengeti of Yellowstone, this is the best place to see wildlife, especially at dusk and dawn. 6) Canyon Village - start with a quick walk to the brink of the upper falls, then drive to lower falls and take the steep hike down to the brink of the lower falls (we promise that it is worth the hike back up) 7) Hayden Valley - wildlife viewing if time doesn't allow for Lamar Valley 8) Sulphur Cauldron/Mud Volcano 9) Lake Village
Surprise and Amphitheater Lake: 10.1 miles round trip and 3,000 ft of elevation gain - The Surprise and Amphitheater Lakes Trail is one of the best hikes in Grand Teton National Park with great views of the Teton Range. If you are going to do one BIG day hike in the park, this is the one we recommend. Be sure to start early as parking at the Lupine Meadows Trailhead fills quickly, and it is best to beat the heat of the day. Taggart Lake: Taggart Lake is an easy, out and back trail that offers visitors some of the best views of the Teton Range. Hikers will find spectacular views of an alpine lake with the Teton Range behind. 2 miles round trip Lake Solitude: 16.6 miles round trip (or less when taking the Jenny Lake Boat Shuttle) Lake Solitude Trail is a very easy trail to follow with amazing views from the very start. The hike is hard because of its length, but it is not technical. It will start you near String Lake, take you around Jenny Lake, and then up through Cascade Canyon.
