The Faculty

The Wedding Website of Elizabeth Rummel and James Whalen
Epic Academy - Come learn from our robust faculty!

Jeanne Rummel

Athletic Director

We offer three sports here - biking, biking and biking. Only kidding! We also offer downhill and cross country skiing! Jeanne makes sure all the equipment is in perfect working condition, by using them all day, Monday through Sunday. She often conceals herself as a student, so she can compete in the races, so don't be shocked if you see her cross the finish line before your child.

Sarah Whalen

Head cafeteria chef

You may recognize Sarah from when she was our school nurse. But after a successful career as a nurse, she decided she wanted to recreate her days of working as the head chef on the ship "The Pride of Baltimore". So she applied for Epic Academy's head chef role! After tasting her lasagna, we cancelled all remaining interviews for the position. Man! Sarah can make a mean lasagna!

Scott Rummel

Dean of Detentions

Scotty takes his role very seriously. When students step out of line, he's there with punishments like cleaning the school's gutters, painting the walls, and washing all the windows. With his favorite word being "no", the kids understand that in order to get what they want from Scott, they need to offer him at LEAST one round of golf.

Rob Whalen

Librarian

Need a book about Knots? How about wooden boats? Interested in the evolution of Hollywood? Our librarian has you covered! If there's any genre you need, but he doesn't have, he knows the local thrift store that does.

Mary Keough

Nap time director & Maid of Honor

Mary is a nap connoisseur, who truly appreciates the finer things in life - like an after work nap. Bonus points if her dog is napping next to her. With Mary around, your kids won't be coming home cranky due to a missed nap. Trust us, you'll thank her later.

Mark Zocco

Teacher of Ancient Arms and Warfare

Mr. Zocco will teach your kids everything from how to wield a gladius to how to properly skirmish with the Gauls. His preferred pedagogy is the rant. Students will often observe Mr. Zocco challenging fellow faculty members to a duel in order to resolve academic disputes.

Maya Donoghue

Secretary & Maid of Honor

Secretary Donoghue never misses a beat all thanks to her passion for Excel, pivot tables, and Google Docs that keep the school organized. It's rumored by the students that she possesses a Marauder's Map - showing her the location of all students and faculty....we notice that she keeps a flirtatious eye on Mr. Zocco.

Christian Foster

Groundskeeper

Groundskeeper Foster may take some artistic liberties in designing our school's greenery, but boy does he make it look fresh! We do our best to keep our grounds natural, but Mr. Foster has been seen from time to time mixing up some chemicals in the school's tool shed...

Julia Perlmutter

recess monitor & maid of honor

As a kid herself, Julia couldn't be better suited for the recess monitor job. We often find Julia joining in on the fun, and sometimes we think she has more fun during recess than the kids. We like to think of our playground as safe, but sometimes we need to remind Julia that she shouldn't be egging kids on to do the dares they've been challenged with. But what can we say, she's their hype woman!

Will Myers

Hall Monitor

Keeping our hallways safe from spit balls and paper airplanes, Officer Myers never let's a student slip by without a proper hall pass.

Hannah Whalen

Yearbook Advisor

Hannah might still have an iPhone 4, but after having her phone for 8 years, she's really mastered the camera on it. She's able to capture the beauty in almost everything...except when parents forget to comb their kids' hair on picture day.

Peter Rummel

Dorm Parent

Competent in understanding youth lingo, setting bedtimes, and providing snacks. Each night Peter reads bedtime stories from the kids least favorite textbooks, a fool proof way that puts everyone right to sleep.

Olivia Weiland

Bus Driver

From her days driving guests around in the Sheraton Hotel shuttle bus, she has now graduated to driving a school bus! Unlike her shuttle bus days, where she would receive monetary tips for her good service, she can now receive mumbled "good mornings" and half hearted "thank you's" from your kids.

Patrick Rummel

Field Trip Coordinator

Patrick "Fun" Rummel never misses an opportunity to take students cliff jumping, scuba diving or water skiing. While he may not wear a helmet himself...he probably has one or two lying around somewhere for his students. All students must have the highest level of insurance before partaking in a field trip.

Mia Faesy

Janitor

Janitor Faesy keeps Epic Academy so clean you could eat off of the floors! She even runs a weekend workshop for students on Sunday laundry, no shoes on in the house, and unpacking your suitcase the same day you get back from vacation.

Tommy Rummel

Home Economics Teacher

After Tommy's Home Ec course your child will be able to live a successful life from - fixing their broken down car, building and remodeling a home (or a shack in the woods), cooking a delish scalloped potato dish, and knowing how to maximize their potential at the gym.

Emily Connors

Football Coach

There is no one more enthusiastic about football than coach Connors. Her professional powderpuff experience from her own high school days plus her commitment to watching every single Pats game, creates the combination for a great coach!

Scott Greacen

Ski Instructor

He may prefer snowboards, but Coach Greacen's ski instruction is still effective in showing what NOT to do.

Claire Mathon

School Nurse

Your kids won't be skipping any classes from a boo-boo, or a tummy ache. Claire can spot a faker from a mile away, and will send them right back to class. But when your kid really is sick, she knows exactly what they'll need to fix their ailment and she'll nurse them back to health in no time.

Joe Underhill

Summer School Director

Well versed in rolling graduations, Mr. Underhill is fully equipped to guide students through as many summer semesters of Bio as they need to get that degree!

Eliza Chemini

Mad Chemist

Bubble bubble, toil and trouble. From beer, seltzer, kombucha, all the way to radioactive nano detection devices, she's always cooking up some crazy concoction! Safety glasses will be provided to each student taking her classes.

Harrison Lund

Logistics Coordinator

Honestly... we're not really sure what Mr. Lund does here at the school. What ever it is though, he does it with big smiles and warm hugs.
