Flight

Fly into Rome (FCO) or Florence (FLR) Airports

The closest major airports to the Castello are: Florence (FLR): Approximately 1.5 hours by car, but no direct flights from USA. Rome Fiumicino (FCO): Approximately 2.5 hours by car. Important Note: Ensure you book your flights as soon as possible! Prices will get higher as we get closer to the wedding weekend. We recommend setting Google Flight alerts to track prices for your desired itinerary to see when prices go up or down.

Rental Car

Rent a Car

A rental car is the most flexible option for exploring Tuscany, as it will allow you to easily take day trips from the Castello to nearby towns throughout the wedding weekend. Roads to the Castello are well-marked, but some sections may be narrow and winding as you approach the village. There is a designated parking area for guests at the venue. An international drivers permit is suggested to avoid any possible hitches and can easily be obtained online or in person through AAA for about $30. We recommend booking through Hertz, Sixt, Avis, Budget, or Enterprise, as these are found at many major airports and train stations, making pick-up and drop-off more convenient. We advise against or with STRONG CAUTION booking with providers not listed here like Surprice with lower rates, as bad experiences are common and well documented. Smaller cars are easier to drive in Italy due to narrow roads and tight street parking, especially if exploring more rural areas. Many rental cars are also manual, so if you need an automatic, book early to ensure availability! Please note - 2025 is a “Jubilee” year in Italy and there will be more visitors than usual, particularly in the summer. If you are planning to reserve a rental car, be sure to book this sooner than later! Train

Travel to the Castello via Train

Italy’s high-speed train network makes getting to Tuscany straightforward. The closest train station is Arezzo, about 30 minutes from the Castello by car. You can take a train to Arezzo from major hubs: From Florence: ~1 hour From Rome: ~1.5 hours From Milan: ~3 hours You can check schedules and book tickets through Trenitalia or Italo.

Travel to the Castello via Taxi

From Arezzo or other nearby towns, you can arrange for a taxi to the Castello. While you can get to Gargonza by train and taxi, getting a taxi from the venue can be challenging. You will also be limited in exploring the neighboring towns around Gargonza with this option.
