Question

How do I prepare for this trip?

Answer

1) A valid passport is the most essential thing you will need. If you need to renew an expired one, the current timeline is 4-6 weeks (plus 2-4 weeks for shipping turnaround). Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the trip date. 2) From 2025, as a US citizen you will need to apply for ETIAS to travel visa-free. You can apply at the following link: https://www.etiaseu.com/application 3) If you plan to rent a car, you must obtain an International Driver's License. This can be easily obtained at a local AAA or online. 4) July is considered peak season for traveling to Italy, so we recommend looking early and often at flights for the best deals. Jet lag is another important consideration when deciding when to arrive. We recommend coming a few days earlier to adjust to the time change and explore nearby regions in Italy. 5) Italy primarily uses the Euro. Notify your bank about international travel and check if your credit card has foreign transaction fees. It’s also a good idea to have some cash on hand for small purchases, as not all places accept cards. 6) July in Tuscany is warm and sunny, with temperatures typically ranging from 85–95°F (29–35°C). Pack light, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat for sun protection. Don’t forget something dressy for the wedding events! 7) The venue is a beautiful medieval village with cobblestone paths. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes or block heels for walking around. 8) Check with your phone provider about international roaming. Many venues, including the Castello, have Wi-Fi, but it’s good to have mobile access too. 9) Trains are a great way to travel between cities. If you’re renting a car, be prepared for narrow roads in the countryside and limited parking in towns. GPS or a reliable map app is a must. 10) Italy uses Type C, F, and L plugs with a standard voltage of 230V. Bring a universal adapter and check if your electronics need a voltage converter.

Question

How do I get to and from the Castello?

Answer

There are several transportation options to help you reach the Castello di Gargonza, located in the heart of Tuscany. Below is a breakdown of the best ways to arrive: Car Service (Booked Through Castello di Gargonza): A car service from an airport or train station to the wedding venue is available for booking at an additional cost. Please contact info@gargonza.it to arrange this service. By Flight: The closest major airports to the Castello are: Florence (FLR): Approximately 1.5 hours by car, but no direct flights from USA. Rome Fiumicino (FCO): Approximately 2.5 hours by car. By Train: Italy’s high-speed train network makes getting to Tuscany straightforward. The closest train station is Arezzo, about 30 minutes from the Castello by car. You can take a train to Arezzo from major hubs: From Florence: ~1 hour From Rome: ~1.5 hours From Milan: ~3 hours You can check schedules and book tickets through Trenitalia or Italo. By Taxi or Rideshare: From Arezzo or other nearby towns, you can arrange for a taxi to the Castello. While you can get to Gargonza by train and taxi, getting a taxi from the venue can be challenging. You will also be limited in exploring the neighboring towns around Gargonza with this option. By Rental Car: A rental car is the most flexible option for exploring Tuscany. Roads to the Castello are well-marked, but some sections may be narrow and winding as you approach the village. The Castello has a designated parking area for guests. An International Driver's License is required for car rentals in Italy.

We are thrilled to have you join us at the Castello di Gargonza, a stunning medieval village nestled in the Tuscan countryside. To make your stay as seamless and enjoyable as possible, here’s what you need to know: Accommodations & Meals: We’ve covered your accommodations for the duration of your stay at the Castello - from Thursday, July 17 to Sunday, July 20! The entire villa will be reserved by our wedding guests for the whole weekend. Each guest will be assigned a unique room or apartment within the historic village (some family and friends may be sharing units due to limited space). Every space has its own charm, with rustic yet comfortable furnishings and modern amenities. Your stay includes all the meals during the wedding festivities (welcome dinner, wedding reception, farewell brunch). Breakfast is also complimentary on all days and is open from 8am to 10:30am. For meals outside of these events, the Castello offers a restaurant featuring delicious Tuscan cuisine, and nearby towns are great for exploring local food options. There is also a Pergola Cafe by the Castello's pool that is open daily for lunch. Amenities: Pool: The Castello features a swimming pool with breathtaking views of the Tuscan hills, perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is available in most areas of the Castello, though signal strength may vary due to the historic stone buildings. Exploration: The Castello is a pedestrian-friendly medieval village with cobblestone paths. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended for exploring. Question

What do I need to pack?

Answer

Packing for a stay at the Castello di Gargonza is all about balancing comfort and preparation. Here are our top recommendations: Essentials: Travel Documents: A valid passport (check expiration requirements), travel insurance, and any tickets or reservations. Power Adapters: Italy uses Type C, F, and L plugs with 230V voltage. Bring a universal adapter and a converter if needed for your electronics. Comfortable Shoes: The Castello’s cobblestone paths require sturdy, comfortable footwear, especially for walking around the village. Clothing: Daytime Wear: Light, breathable clothing for warm July days. Evening Wear: Evenings can cool down slightly, so bring a light sweater or wrap. Wedding Attire: Dressy outfits for the wedding events (see dress codes in the "Schedule" tab). Block heels or flats are recommended for navigating cobblestones. Swimwear: For the pool and lounging areas. Staying Cool: Each room will have either air conditioning, a cooling unit, or a fan to help keep you comfortable during your stay. While more air-conditioned units are being added before the wedding, we recommend packing items to help with the summer heat, such as: - A small, portable fan if you’re heat-sensitive. - Lightweight sleepwear and breathable fabrics. - A refillable water bottle to stay hydrated. Toiletries & Extras: Sunscreen and Sunglasses: The Tuscan sun can be strong, especially in July. Bug Spray: For outdoor events and evenings. Daypack: A small bag for exploring the Castello and surrounding areas.

Question

Can I bring my kids or a plus one?

Answer

Unfortunately, we can only accommodate those explicitly mentioned in the invites or previously agreed upon arrangements due to limited space at the venue. Thank you for understanding!

Question

Will there be alcohol provided?

Answer

It wouldn't be a Tuscan wedding without it! Following the wedding dinner, there will be an open bar for dancing and the after party. During the welcome dinner and wedding dinner, wine, beer, and soft drinks will be provided. In addition to these drinks, prosecco, and spritz will be provided during the cocktail hour following the ceremony. That being said, specialty cocktails that you wish to consume will be available to purchase. These items will be charged to your room and must be paid in full upon checkout.
