Wedding Update - July 28th, 2021

UK now allowing vaccinated Americans

Well - the prayers and good vibes seemed to work! Today, the UK Government approved the plan to FINALLY allow fully vaccinated Americans into the UK without quarantine (beginning August 2nd)! Americans arriving in the UK will need to: 1. be fully vaccinated (at least 14 days prior to arrival in the UK) 2. take a pre-departure COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure (free at any pharmacy) 3. take a PCR test on or before day 2 day of arrival (~$30 - we are reviewing the cheapest prices and can pick these up and deliver to anyone!) Other than the pre-departure test and day 2 test, you are allowed to travel freely around the country from the moment you walk off the plane with no restrictions at all in place. Please note - most of you plan to travel to other countries outside of the UK after the wedding, the US still requires a negative test before returning home no matter where you are in the world. After evaluating this information, we’ve decided to move forward with our original plan of getting married on August 25th in Brighton, England. We are so excited and would love for everyone to attend as we have spent the last 1.5 years planning, but we COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND if you do not feel comfortable traveling at this time. Do not hesitate to call / text / message us with any questions! Cheers! https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-57999362

Wedding Update - June 18th, 2021:

UK Extending Lockdown / Travel Updates

Yet another update on COVID... As you may have seen in the news, the UK has decided to extend its current lockdown measures to July 19th (extended from the original June 21st date). The extension comes as a bit of a surprise given that 80% of adults here have already had the first dose; however, the government decided it was necessary in order to keep the new delta variant under control. The guidance on weddings was updated and restrictions have increased from 30 people to 50% of the capacity of the venue. So on the bright side, the reception venue would have plenty of space for all of our guests and, in the case restrictions would not change, would be able to host our wedding. We are optimistic that most restrictions will be lifted on the July 19th date, given that vaccinations stay on pace. As for travel restrictions, the US is still on the UK's amber list, meaning that 5-day minimum quarantine would be required upon arrival. However, the latest projections have the US being added to the green list (no quarantine requirement) by end of June or early July. The UK is re-evaluating their travel lists every 3 weeks, but we are monitoring it and will be sure to provide any further updates. The European Union has recently decided to allow all vaccinated Americans, so it would be shocking if the UK doesn’t follow suit. We fully expect the US to be on the green list by mid-August in time for our wedding. The green list will mean that US citizens can travel without quarantine if they are vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated, you will need to provide a negative PCR test. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns! Cheers! Email: Lizandbrogan@gmail.com

Wedding Update - June 4th, 2021

Hotel Block / Travel Restrictions

Hi, All! As mentioned in the update below, we plan to get married in Brighton, England on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021! You can now book your hotel in our hotel block (please see the "Travel" tab above). The US is still on the UK's amber list, meaning that quarantine would be required upon arrival. However, the latest projections have the US being added to the green list (no quarantine requirement) by end of June. The UK is re-evaluating their travel lists every 3 weeks, but we are monitoring it and will be sure to provide any further updates. We fully expect the US to be on the green list by mid-August in time for our wedding. The green list will mean that US citizens can travel without quarantine if they are vaccinated! If you are not vaccinated, you will need to provide a negative PCR test. UK lockdown restrictions are planned to 100% lifted on June 21st, so we are also continuing to monitor any changes to that plan. Most airlines are still allowing free changes to international flights due to COVID, but be sure to read the fine print before booking. If you still need to book your flights, we've found Google Flights to be the best place to find the cheapest prices - you can often find cheaper flights if you search for round trips from a major hub like Chicago, Boston, New York, etc. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns! Wedding Update - April 30th, 2021:

We're moving the Wedding from Ireland to England!

Hi, All! Ireland announced its reopening plan on April 5th. They will slowly be reopening - hotels can reopen in late June and weddings to be held at limited capacity. We spoke with our wedding coordinator and she believes weddings will not be allowed to operate with more than 25-50 people this summer. After lots of consideration, we made the difficult decision to move our wedding to England so we can still celebrate with all of you on the same day (August 25th, 2021)! The European Union/UK announced that US citizens can travel without quarantine if they are vaccinated! If you are not vaccinated, you will need to provide a negative PCR test. Lockdown restrictions will be 100% lifted on June 21st so things may look different come August (hopefully in a good way!). We booked a venue and hotel in Brighton, England (a quick 1-hour train ride south of London). Therefore, we suggest you book flights into London as there are 6 different airports to fly into making it super accessible with tons of train and bus links! For those who have booked flights to Ireland, we sincerely apologize and hope you understand our reasons for changing the location. With that being said, most airlines are allowing free changes to flights booked before April 30th, 2021. Thankfully, you should be able to change your flight without penalty / extra fees! If you still need to book your flights, we've found Google Flights to be the best place to find the cheapest prices - you can often find cheaper flights if you search for round trips from a major hub like Chicago, Boston, New York, etc. We understand if this change is not conducive to your plans and you cannot attend for any reason. Again, we wanted to be transparent and let you know the current situation we are in. Thanks for bearing with us as we try to navigate this difficult time! Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns! Cheers! Email: Lizandbrogan@gmail.com
