How We Met

5.13.2019

We met because fate brought us together. Many things happened that led me to be at Elisabeth's work on the morning of May 13, 2019. As I sat in an exam room, I saw her turn the corner with her golden hair bouncing around. She seemed to be walking towards me in slow motion. All I could think of at that brief moment was that I knew she was going to be my wife. We talked for a few minutes but what I will never forget is how she smiled at me before I left her office. The morning I met Manny, I was running behind schedule. I became more anxious as I walked past the exam room he and his mother were in, mostly because I saw how handsome and well-dressed he was. It is funny that Manny always describes me as walking in slow motion, when, in reality, I was speed-walking to save time. When I finally entered the room, he stood up and introduced himself and seemed impressed once I started speaking Spanish to his mother. Later on, when he and his mother were checking out at the front desk, I saw him facing me and looking at me. We looked at each other until I glanced down and walked in to see my next patient. I was hoping I would hear from him soon, and I did.
