Things To Do

Field Museum

Field Museum

1400 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605

One of Elisa and Hunter’s favorite Chicago institutions, the Field Museum reflects their shared love of history, science, and exploring museums together. Home to world-famous collections—including SUE, the largest and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex ever discovered—the museum offers everything from ancient cultures to towering dinosaurs. It’s a place that never fails to spark curiosity, and one that clearly made an impression: Hunter even has a wax dinosaur collection from the museum.

Blue Sushi Sake Grill

Blue Sushi Sake Grill

415 North Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60654

A staple in Elisa and Hunter’s Chicago restaurant rotation, Blue Sushi is a fun, modern spot known for its creative rolls and energetic atmosphere. With a wide variety of options—including excellent vegetarian choices—it’s a great recommendation for wedding guests looking for a lighter meal or a lively night out while exploring River North. There’s even a speakeasy next door, making it an easy spot to continue the evening.

The Red Lion Pub

The Red Lion Pub

2446 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614

A beloved neighborhood favorite for Elisa and Hunter, The Red Lion Pub is more than just a cozy place for a pint—it’s a living piece of history. The pub is filled with original artifacts from World War I and World War II, each carefully curated by its owner, Colin, who can tell the story behind every item lining the walls and the people connected to it. It was also the site of Elisa and Hunter’s engagement celebration, making it especially meaningful to them. If you stop in, be sure to let them know you’re in town for the wedding—if Colin is in, you may just get a tour along with your drink.

The Bellevue

The Bellevue

1031 North Rush Street, Chicago, IL 60611

Just steps from The Drake Hotel and near Elisa and Hunter’s first apartment in the city, Bellevue holds a special place in our Chicago story. It was the very first restaurant we went to after Hunter picked Elisa up from the airport following our move to Chicago. It later became the place where our families gathered for brunch after our engagement. With its inviting atmosphere and classic neighborhood charm, Bellevue is a meaningful and memorable spot we’re excited to share with our guests.

The Bean

The Bean

201 East Randolph Street, Chicago, IL 60602

You’ve seen it in photos, and yes, it’s exactly as shiny as everyone says. This iconic Chicago sculpture is basically a required stop for first-time visitors (and repeat visitors, too). Snap a photo, admire your reflection, and officially confirm that you were in Chicago. Nestled in Millennium Park, The Bean is just moments from ice skating rinks and the picturesque Riverwalk.

Quartino Ristorante

Quartino Ristorante

626 North State Street, Chicago, IL 60654

A lively Italian favorite in River North and a great option for wedding guests looking for a fun, easy meal nearby. Known for its shareable plates and cozy atmosphere, it’s perfect for larger groups. We especially recommend the Funghi pizza and the Caeser Salad, both have a little kick to it! A reliable and delicious spot while exploring the neighborhood.

Kuma's Corner

Kuma's Corner

2900 West Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL 60618

A Chicago institution and a longtime favorite of Elisa and Hunter, Kuma’s Corner is beloved for its legendary burgers and unapologetic heavy-metal soundtrack. Known for creative, over-the-top burgers named after metal bands, it’s a must-visit for anyone looking to experience a louder, edgier side of Chicago’s food scene—and a nod to Hunter’s love of metal music.

Butch McGuire's

Butch McGuire's

20 West Division Street, Chicago, IL 60610

If you want a true taste of old-school Chicago, Butch McGuire’s is it. Open since 1961 and family-owned for over 60 years, this legendary bar is known for its over-the-top décor, classic cocktails, and lively, no-frills energy that locals swear by. It’s the kind of place that feels like stepping into Chicago’s old tavern history—walls covered in memorabilia, stories in every corner, and a crowd that knows how to have a good time. Located on Division Street, one of the more iconic bar strips of downtown Chicago, it's perfect for kicking off the wedding weekend or grabbing a drink with friends who want to experience a piece of the city that never tries to be anything other than itself.
