Question

Are there other options for accommodations in San Salvador?

Answer

We have reserved a block of rooms with preferential rates at two hotels: Hotel Barcelo and Hotel Sheraton. Transportation will be provided to the wedding events from these two locations. If you desire to stay in a different hotel or experience San Salvador like a local there are also great Airbnbs. You can arrange private transportation by contacting Benjamin Melara (see travel section).

Question

Do I need a visa to go to El Salvador?

Answer

Not really! As long as your passport has 6 months of validity at the moment you enter, you're good! You'll have to buy a "tourist card" when you go through customs- which costs $12. (It’s best to have a bit of cash on hand anyway, but you can pay with credit card.)

Question

Covid Requirements & Info

Answer

Traveling to El Salvador doesn't require a negative covid test or proof of vaccination.

Question

Weather

Answer

March is the tail end of the dry season in El Salvador with day temperatures around 85 F (30 C) and dropping to 72 F (22 C) in the evening.

Question

Is El Salvador safe?

Answer

We recognize that the news cycle doesn't show El Salvador as the safest place to visit. As in any other city in Latin America, you can stay safe by knowing where to go and following the recommended precautions. We want you to enjoy and discover the hidden jewel that is El Salvador! The most important piece of advice is to not take taxis or use public transportation.

Question

Can I walk around in San Salvador?

Answer

Unfortunately San Salvador isn't a city where you can walk around. We recommend staying away from the temptation of walking around to get to know the city. If you want to book a city tour we recommend contacting Benjamin for a private tour via whatsapp (+503 7308-2280)

Question

How do I get around in El Salvador?

Answer

We will be organizing transportation to all the wedding events to/from the two hotels (Hotel Barcelo & Hotel Sheraton). You can arrange for private transportation to/from the airport and/or for any extra days that you plan to be in El Salvador by contacting Benjamin or with Linea Ejecutiva (see travel section). The only taxi company that we recommend is Acacya taxis (+503 2521 1000).

Question

What is El Salvador's currency?

Answer

US Dollar $! We recommend bringing cash just in case, but credit cards are accepted in most places you'll visit, and ATMs are accessible.

Question

Answer

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation says “and Guest,” then yes.

Question

Can I drink the tap water?

Answer

No. Do not drink tap water in El Salvador. It’s generally fine to brush your teeth with it, but you should drink only bottled water.
