We've added the hotel we're staying at below, and made a Google Map with more options (see below). This list isn't exhaustive—feel free to book wherever suits you best. We've marked our hotel on the map in case you'd like to be near.
A note on terminology: in Spain, a hostal is not a hostel. It's a small, budget-friendly hotel—usually private rooms with their own bathroom, often family-run. Many are lovely and a great value, so don't let the name throw you off.
First time in Barcelona? The Gothic Quarter, El Born, or El Raval put you in the lively historic center, close to most sights and restaurants. The Eixample is a bit quieter, still central, and near the Gaudí sights.
A couple of practical notes: Barcelona fills up fast in late September, so book soon. You won't need a car—the metro is excellent and the center is very walkable. Staying farther out is fine, just plan for longer metro rides. And note that pickup for the venue will be in the Eixample.
