Only an hour and fifteen minutes away from Camp Manitou is the charming, waterfront city of Portland, Maine. Stroll through the cobblestone streets, grab a bite to eat (Duckfat is Taylor's favorite spot for casual bites), and get some lobster themed souvenirs. If you're feeling a little drive about 15 minutes away is the tiny town of Cape Elizabeth, home to the oldest lightest house in Maine, Two Lights Lobster Shack with a view. Oh, did we mentioned that their strawberry rhubarb pie is out of this galaxy? You can hop on a 15 minute ferry ride and head over to Peaks Island to explore this picturesque island. Rent a golf cart and explore the beaches. Go early, the cinnamon rolls are out of control delicious.
Kennebunkport, Maine. This town is something else, in the best way possible. Very postcard pretty. Beaches nearby, trolley museum, galleries, food. About 40 minutes south of Portland
A quick 2 hour drive from camp is Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Ideal for a day trip if you want incredible National Park and quaint waterfront town all in one.
A sweet little town with outlet type shopping, delicious food, ice cream every corner, and home to THE L.L. Bean Factory store. There is also plenty of hiking/nature spots right around the corner from the shopping district in Freeport.
