Dustin is a Southern raised, easy going, purposeful man that has traveled the world for work and play. Emily is a city raised, courageous, intentional woman with big dreams that can't be slowed down. Dustin moved to Salt Lake City in 2018 after riding his bicycle across the country multiple times in multiple directions. Emily's passion for the mountains eventually took over and she packed up and moved across the country during the middle of the pandemic. They were separately searching for similar things in the mountains, one of them being love. Emily and Dustin’s lives finally intersected when they matched on a dating app. The first date was a casual one at a local brewery called Bewilder. It was a warm summer night in June, as they sat on the patio sharing stories, asking life’s deep questions, and eventually closing the place down. As they sauntered through the parking lot towards Dustin’s truck not wanting the night to end, a group of brewery patrons walked past them and hollered ‘kiss her!’, a moment Dustin seized without hesitation. Both very interested in each other they decided to go on a sunset mountain hike for a picnic that same week. Emily shamefully admitted she was busy with work and was going to be late and not going to have time to contribute anything to their planned picnic. With Dustin’s former trip leading experience, he said ‘don’t you worry’ and only asked Emily “what’s your favorite cheese?” They hiked to a secluded outcrop looking over Salt Lake City in time for a sweet summer sunset, Emily’s favorite thing in the world. Dustin carried a full picnic spread in his backpack, including her favorite cheese, fresh picked garden veggies, homemade salads, and of course a chilled bottle of white wine. Emily was smitten! Date number three Dustin hosted Emily in his backyard for a home cooked meal of veggie tacos and by then they both knew they had found something very special in each other. After these very successful dates the couple quickly realized how aligned their lifestyles, values, dreams and goals were. They enjoy cooking new recipes, running, skiing and biking in the mountains, taking care of hundreds of indoor and outdoor plants, and road tripping as often as possible. They began living together in April of 2022 and have created a very happy home where they keep a few rockstar chickens lovingly named Aretha, Cher, Stevie, Tina and Janis and host their friends for dinner parties large and small. Now they are ready for a new chapter and a new challenge. They are moving to Hood River this fall (with a puppy) around the same time as the wedding. The excitement to get married in Hood River is extra special for this reason - being able to share their new home with their loved ones. We truly can't wait to celebrate our love with you all!
