Western Cocktail
Western Cocktail attire is exactly what you might guess--cocktail attire with a Rocky Mountain twist. We want to combine our Southern roots with our Western home, so everyone should dress to impress, but with your nice boots, belts, bolos, & hats if you're comfortable!
Since the wedding is on a Friday, we are fully planning to spend the rest of the weekend with whoever will be in town! There is the baseball game Saturday night, but we also may grill out at the parents' that evening. We completely understand everyone's energy & social levels will be different, so we will be very much going with the flow as much as possible! In the meantime, we've listed several avorite options for excursions, hikes, museums, & food in our "Things To Do" section.
It is always important to prepare your body to acclimate to the higher altitude & thinner air up here. Altitude sickness is no joke & quite miserable, & it generally hits within the first 24 hours at elevation. Our recommendations: *Hydrate VERY well the 24 hours leading up to your flight & the first 24 hours after your arrival--this means water, but we also suggest electrolytes & water additives as well (ie. liquid IV, gatorade, emergen-C, etc.). The recommended amount of water in Denver is 1 GALLON/DAY MINIMUM. *Bananas & carbs are also a good idea before traveling up here/within first 24 hours. Potassium is a great along with other electrolytes, so spinach & potatoes are also excellent for preparing to acclimate. *Be mindful of alcohol: while we want everyone to have a good time, we first & foremost want everyone to be safe & healthy. The effects of alcohol are greater felt at higher altitudes, & dehydration happens much quicker. If you choose partake, please ensure you are hydrating, eating, & pacing yourself well. *If you feel short of breath, you can purchase mini-Oxygen canisters at any local convenience store, grocery store, or gas station.
